    Position Overview

    Under the supervision of the Director of Social Services, the Tenant Support Specialist (TSS) will work primarily in buildings in Brooklyn, possibly the Bronx, to support tenants and their families to successfully transition into their apartment(s) and community. This position includes individual case assistance and facilitation of building engagement activities. The TSS will also assist newly formerly homeless tenants and their families in successfully transitioning from the shelter to their new community.

     

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    Support Services include assisting tenants with the following:

    Assist tenants with applying for and securing a full range of services, entitlements and benefitsWork with tenants to complete surveys to assess interest in various activities and workshopsCoordinate building social and community building events and workshops based on need and interestFollow up with tenants about managing rent payments, recertification, obtaining subsidies, and avoiding and/or addressing arrears and defaultsWork with tenants and landlords to facilitate the completion of repairsAssist with all aspects of transition from shelter, including:Apartment set up (utilities, furniture, locating community resources)Assessing tenants' needs and service planning on a voluntary basisAdvise tenants about building policies and proceduresProvide “warmline” remote and in-person office hoursMaintain documentation of all activities and services and communicate outstanding issues to both the landlord and NIDC in a timely fashion.

    Additional Notes

    After-school Program Director - COMPASS Elementary

    COMPASS Elementary Program Director

    The Program Director is responsible for the oversight of an elementary school-based afterschool program. The Program Director provides leadership, direction, supervision, and support to program staff to ensure desired program goals and outcomes are met. The Program Director serves as the primary contact between Neighborhood Initiatives Development Corp. (NIDC) and the school Principal and represents NIDC to the whole school community. The Program Director reports to and will work with the assigned Program Supervisor and other team members to create a dynamic after-school program that includes academic enrichment, social/emotional activities, project-based learning, arts, sports, and leadership activities.

    Duties and Responsibilities, in concert with NIDC Youth Department Staff:

    Supervise all aspects of a school-based after-school programEnsure that the program operates in compliance with all DOH safety and funder regulations and meets all contractual obligations, specifically in the area of enrollment and rate of participationReport all incident and accident reports to all relevant parties promptly and submit all documentation in a timely fashion.Participate in incident review processesPlan program activities and schedules for afterschool programs, holidays, and summer campManage daily operations and coordinate with the school’s administration, teachers, secretaries, and custodial staffOrganize program logistics, such as schedules, lesson plan collection, snack and space reservations, trips, supply requests, and programmatic needsBuild relationships with the school principal and administrative team to facilitate seamless integration of the afterschool program into the overall school cultureBuild and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders (participants, parents, school staff and administration, funders, and the community working collaboratively with other NIDC departments)Learn and maintain all databases and other systems required by NIDC and fundersMaintain accurate and up-to-date attendance data and meet deadlines for data entry into databasesAssist in the interviewing, managing, training, and coaching of program staff and volunteers and documenting these effortsConduct classroom observations; assess and evaluate staff on a consistent basis and address concerns as they ariseMaintain accurate time and attendance records for all staff, current staff and student files, incident and accident reports, and other required documentation and student dataReview lesson plans weekly; support the development of curriculum maps and activity plansEnsure program content supports initiative goals and outcomesParticipate in school leadership committees and PTA meetingsParticipate in other organizational development processes, workshops, and trainings including developing new programmatic initiativesWork closely with families, parents, and guardians to ensure the needs of students are metCreate a strong sense of community that values respect, acceptance, and high expectationsPerform other duties and tasks as deemed necessary by the NIDC

    Qualifications Requirements:

    A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education required, or Bachelor's degree with SACC license credential.A minimum of four years of relevant experience working with children in an educational, or SACC-licensed setting is preferredAt least two years experience supervising staff and managing programs is preferredMust be able to obtainStrong leadership, conflict-resolution, and diplomacy skillsExcellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced environmentCapacity to work independently and collaborativelyStrong verbal and written communication skillsComputer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite, email correspondence, and database management is requiredFamiliarity with NY State Standards, including OCFS and DOH regulationsMust be available to work Monday through Friday, between the hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pmMust take part in 30 hours of professional development opportunities per year and be available for some program or organization events outside of regular business hours

    Certifications Requirements:

    CPR and RTECertificate of Fitness for Fire and Emergency Drill Conductor (W-07)Note: All certifications must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

    This is a full-time position. Salary starts at $60,000 per year, commensurate with applicant experience and education

    A current physical exam and TB test are required for all Program Directors. All site-based staff must be fingerprinted before being hired.

    Position Summary

    The Multi-Site Supervisor provides leadership, oversight, quality assurance, and operational management for multiple K-5 & K-8 school-based afterschool programs. This position supervises Program Directors and site leadership staff to ensure programs meet organizational goals, contractual obligations, compliance standards, and quality benchmarks.

     

    The Multi-Site Supervisor serves as a liaison between Neighborhood Initiatives Development Corp. (NIDC), school leadership teams, funders, and community stakeholders. This role supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality youth development programming, including academic enrichment, social-emotional learning, leadership development, arts, sports, and family engagement initiatives.

     

    The MSS will work closely with the Director and Assistant Director of Youth and Family Services in a tightly integrated and highly collaborative environment to achieve the above goals.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Oversight & Compliance

    Supervise and support Program Directors/Site Supervisors across multiple school-based programs.Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements, including DOH, DOE, DYCD, OCFS, ExpandED, and organizational policies.Monitor enrollment, attendance, staffing ratios, budgets, and program deliverables.Conduct regular site visits and program assessments to ensure quality implementation and continuous improvement.Review incidents and corrective action plans and communicate findings to senior leadership.Support planning and implementation of afterschool, holiday, and summer programming.

     

    Leadership & Staff Development

    Recruit, onboard, supervise, evaluate, and coach Program Directors and supervisory staff.Provide ongoing professional development, leadership coaching, and performance management.Facilitate regular supervisory meetings and support staff retention and succession planning.Foster strong school partnerships and collaborative relationships across sites.

     

    Quality Assurance & Program Development

    Establish, monitor, and maintain quality standards across all assigned programs.Support program design, implementation, and evaluation to ensure positive youth outcomes.Analyze program data and feedback to drive continuous improvement.Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning and program expansion initiatives.

     

    Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

    Serve as the primary liaison with school administrators, funders, and community partners.Support contract management, reporting requirements, and relationship-building efforts.Represent the organization at meetings, events, and site visits as needed.

     

    Qualifications

    Education

    Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in education, Social Work, Public Administration, Youth Development, or a related field preferred. Candidates must have a minimum of 18 credits in Early Childhood Education that may be applied toward SACC licensing requirements or currently hold a SACC credential.

     

    Experience & Skills

    Minimum 3–5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in youth development, afterschool, education, or human services programs.Experience supervising multiple sites, programs, or teams preferred.Strong knowledge of DYCD, DOE, OCFS, DOH, and other regulatory requirements governing school-age childcare programs.Demonstrated ability to lead staff, manage operations, analyze data, and build strong partnerships.Experience in teen programming in addition to K-8 preferred.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data management systems.

     

    Work Environment

    This position requires regular travel between assigned program sites and occasional evening or weekend hours to support program operations, meetings, and special events.
