    Switchboard Operator/Receptionist- (Part-Time) Norfolk Veterans' Home (Open) This role will provide clerical support and perform wide-variety reception duties. SCHEDULE: This part-time position is scheduled 16 hours every two weeks. Will work every other weekend of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Weekend hours rotate. WAGE INFORMATION: Total Hourly Rate: $18.00/hour. Breakdown: $15.00/hr (base) + $3.00/hr (Differential). This position is eligible for vacation/sick/holiday. Under limited supervision, provide clerical support in the reception area at the facility's main entrance; answer multi-line phone, route incoming and outgoing calls; operate public address systems, paging systems, security systems, information boards, and e-mail to facilitate communications; greet visitors, members and employees; answer questions and provide directions; sort and distribute facility and member mail. Will provide surveillance of weather conditions and facility alarms; announce and report emergency "codes" per policy as directed; maintain and preserve logs for visitors, members and facility items to be check out (including but not limited to facility keys and vehicles). Receive donations and notify appropriate staff upon arrival for proper handling; complete and forward donation paperwork as required; operate various office equipment such as copy machine, fax, scanner and computer. Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training or experience in public contact, customer service, and/or performing and applying office/clerical support procedures, including the use of a personal computer, associated software, and office equipment Knowledge of: Office/business/clerical support procedures and practices; customer service and telephone etiquette practices. Skill in: Operating office equipment such as multi-line telephone systems, personal computers, typing, reproduction and scanning equipment, multi-sorters, collators, calculators, posting and mailing machines, and associated software. Ability to: Interact tactfully and courteously with visitors, customers, clients, agency employees, and the public in a positive/professional manner; communicate clearly; work well under pressure and remain calm during emergency situations; make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action; learn the organization and layout of the facility and its functions; follow written and oral instructions; learn the operation of the Reception area and other related communication equipment and practices. The successful candidate oversees a CSI business unit directing the work of incarcerated workers. Must be customer focused and provide effective communication to all internal and external stakeholders. Additional $3/hour facility differential for hours worked. Duties: Develop a thorough understanding of processes for CSI business units to provide backup staff coverage for each operation. Provide coverage for other business units/NDCS institutions as needed. Schedule production to effectively and efficiently coordinate materials and manpower availability with work orders. Plan, organize, assign, and direct inmate work activity. Hire, train and counsel inmate workers to meet established work performance standards and production requirements. Review inmate work performance to determine appropriate promotions, demotions or training needs. Determine raw materials required for work orders. Maintain inventory control. Assure quality throughout the production process. Monitor the shop and equipment for maintenance and to maintain a safe work environment. Record payroll data, production orders, purchases, inventory and other relevant data. Perform security-related duties to assure compliance with work policies and maintain accountability for workers, tools and chemicals. Deliver, install, or repair furniture and products. Requirements / Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Experience in a skilled trade or manufacturing work similar to the production in the assigned shop OR graduation from a vocational technical school relevant to the production process employed. No felony or domestic abuse related convictions. Preferred Qualifications: Equipment maintenance experience. Minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing production environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Other: Must have a valid Class B CDL or the ability to obtain one within 90 days after completion of the Corrections Training Program.* Some overtime and overnight stays required.
