As a Correctional Registered Nurse (RN), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Perform crisis intervention and de-escalation as indicated.
Monitor patients and promote prosocial behavior.
Participation in unit treatment team planning.
Documentation of critical incidents and treatment progress in patient’s medical record at the discretion of supervisor.
Participation in unit morning report and regular unit staff meetings.
May facilitate community meetings.
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Collaborate with the Medical Director, Mental Health Director and Dental services staff to set clinical priorities and provide direction for nursing services, ensure nursing staff are responsive to patients in our care.Provide oversight, case consultation, coaching, and troubleshooting to the staff in the nursing services unit to create a cohesive, skilled, and supported team.Directly supervise the Nursing Leadership Team including providing performance reviews, setting and reviewing expectations of the team, advocate for skill development, and perform hiring/separation actions.Assure clinical quality standards and expectations are set and monitored through a clinical performance and review process, as well as manage and monitor staff behaviors and expectations to meet all NaphCare policies, guidelines, and expectations to create and maintain a healthy work environment.Facilitate staff development activities including clinical practices updates and skill development, community resources/partners updates, and law updates. Provide and/or coordinate in-service training for all jail staff, as needed.Monitor and ensure compliance with National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards, regulatory requirements, and legally mandated training requirements for nursing services.Collaborate with NaphCare’s Finance Team to monitor available funds and stay within allotted budget authority.Qualifications

Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within NVMust possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screeningFive years of well-developed administrative, clinical, and progressive management experience in a government or private organization related to comprehensive medical, dental, and mental healthcare services within a correctional health care or acute care settingAbility to manage budgets, analyze contracts, managing complex staffing matrices between medical and mental health teamsExcellent communication skills with proven experience leading, managing, and coaching medical staff through complex Human Resource issues and challenges.Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential informationDisplay integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirementsPhysical Capabilities:

As a Correctional Behavioral Health Registered Nurse, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in our continued mission to provide quality care that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:
Performing initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs, medical histories.Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services.Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information.Qualifications
