    MUSC Health Columbia is seeking Highly Qualified Neonatal or Pediatric Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to work on a PRN basis. The qualified Advanced Practice Provider will attend high risk deliveries and develop a plan of care for each infant while collaborating with MUSC physicians in Charleston via Telehealth technology. To bring high-quality care, and access to life-saving technology to residents of our surrounding communities, we are looking for skilled, knowledgeable Neonatal or Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to help support this technology-driven well-baby nursery.

    The Advanced Practice Provider position will be PRN; shifts will vary depending on the need.

    About this position:

    Candidates must be confident and have the experience and knowledge to make decisions about patient care while relaying key information to collaborating physicians located off-site.Must be comfortable with resuscitation, peripheral IVs, ART sticks, managing ventilators, administering pulmonary surfactant, umbilical lines, catheters, and other sick baby related procedures. Circumcision is a must, will provide training with Plastibell if needed.Strong leadership skills are required, and candidates must be willing to guide and develop nursing support to achieve optimal patient care.The Advanced Practice Provider position will be PRN, providing weekend rounding coverage and attend high risk deliveries as needed. APP must be able to commit to a minimum of 1 weekend per quarter.

    Required Minimum Training and Education:

    MUSC Health Podiatry is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dynamic healthcare team in Columbia, SC. In this role, the APP will provide comprehensive care to patients with a variety of foot and ankle conditions. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing both acute and chronic podiatric conditions, including performing non-surgical and surgical treatments within their scope of practice. Additionally, the APP will evaluate new, established, and post-operative patients in the clinic, interpret imaging and vascular studies, and deliver high-quality care tailored to each patient's needs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine clinical expertise with patient education, ensuring optimal outcomes in a busy, growing clinic.


    Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Salaried/Exempt

    Hours per week: 40 (36 required as direct patient care)

    Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: APP will practice daily from the Podiatry office
    Monday-Thursday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PMFriday: 8:30 AM - 12:00 PMEvery Other Wednesday: APP will go to SCDC for clinic.Patient Population Focus: Outpatient

    Required Training and Experience

    Required Minimum Training: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below.

    Physician Assistant

    APRN License Type/Certification:AGPNP/ANP (Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP or Adult NP): Adult pts (13 years to death), stable chronic disease state management or primary care setting.FNP (Family NP): (birth to death) Stable chronic disease state management, primary care across the lifespan.

    Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience as a PA, FNP or ANP is preferred but not required. We are happy to provide training to qualified applicants.

    Degree of Supervision
    Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to this physician.


    Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations

    All certifications must be current and complete prior to start date:

    Basic Life Support (BLS).

    If applicable, DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to first day.

    Job Duties

    Provides direct care to patients through the following activities:

    Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinationsEvaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guidelinePerforms the following therapeutic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill and proficiency as approved by the Clinical Division ChiefInitiates referrals to other health care providers, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physicianDocuments and bills for direct care providedUtilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practicePerforms and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical researchParticipates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organizationDemonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing educationPotential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates the learning of other new team membersAPRN or PA must maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state lawThe APP will be expected to assist in the management of post-operative care, assess new and established patients and perform in-office procedures. Additionally, the APP will also be expected to treat the following but not limited to: diabetic foot care, nail trimming, corn/callous removal, etc.).The APP will provide care at SCDC biweekly and perform telehealth follow-ups if needed.

    Physical Requirements

    Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
