    Job Description

    A Day in the Life

    The Financial Counselor performs quality assurance for in-house and post discharged accounts by assisting the uninsured and underinsured patients, or the responsible party, in establishing a financial resource for their healthcare needs.Financial Counselors assist patients in applying for governmental and/or state programs. They are also responsible in assisting individuals with pre-service cost estimates, support in resolving insurance issues, and continuously monitoring various worklists for appropriate follow-up. Contributes to the team orientation of the Patient Accounts area and, as such, is responsible for proper communication with all department members. Contributes to the team orientation of MMC and, as such, is responsible for proper communication between Patient Accounts, and all other departments.Handles questions from patients or interested persons concerning insurance, credit, or other problems relating to the hospital. Responsible for data accuracy and input on the financial system. Provide cost estimates for patients anticipating hospitalization for MMC outpatient services, or regular admissions. Interviews in person or by phone, patients and relatives requesting credit arrangements. Counsels patients on payment options. Helps patients obtain financial assistance through appropriate state or federal agencies. Obtains and reviews pre-admission information on scheduled outpatients and inpatients. Resolves problems regarding insurance, lack of information, and provide financial advice as required. Accepts deposits, issues receipts, and makes payment arrangements on any unpaid balances. Verifies insurance benefits on problem accounts for all third-party payors. Follows-up with insurance companies by telephone and letter to obtain payment. Dictates and sends collection letters as required. Handles problem patient correspondence. Makes collection telephone calls. Handles incoming collection calls. Will collect when appropriate. Interviews prospective charity recipients, disseminates applications, and determines eligibility.  Follow-up with the Department of Social Services and patients for documentation needed to complete applications. Qualifications

    What’s Required 

    Associate's Degree or two (2) years formal education or equivalent experience required.Two years' experience in customer service, healthcare, or business-related field.Knowledge of current third-party payer reimbursement preferred.Above average oral and written communication skills and the ability to converse well on the telephone and in face-to-face situations is required. Applicant must be warm, friendly and sensitive to the feelings and concerns of others.

    Job Description

    A Day in the Life 

    The Hospice Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and operational oversight of the hospice program. This role develops and monitors departmental budgets, organizational plans, and strategic initiatives to ensure financial stability, operational efficiency, and achievement of organizational goals. The Hospice Manager ensures compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards while evaluating program performance and personnel through measurable outcomes and quality metrics. Responsibilities include hiring, staffing, performance management, staff development, orientation, continuing education, competency assessment, and corrective action as needed. The Hospice Manager directs staff in the delivery of hospice services, including admissions, discharges, transfers, revocations, and ongoing patient care, while promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and comprehensive care delivery. This position oversees the maintenance of patient and family records, monitors service utilization, ensures appropriate policies and procedures are developed and implemented, and collaborates with community agencies, vendors, and healthcare partners to effectively coordinate services. The Hospice Manager also serves as a representative of the hospice program within the organization and throughout the community, promotes professional growth and clinical excellence among staff, manages patient and employee concerns, and ensures the availability of resources, support services, equipment, and supplies necessary to provide high-quality hospice care.

    Qualifications

    What’s Required  

    The employee must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing, therapy or social work; minimum of 5 years of clinical experience with at least 2 years in Hospice or Home Care; and management experience required OR a health care/human services professional with at least 8 years of health-related experience, 2 years in Home Care or Hospice; management experience required as well as the knowledge and ability to effectively administer the Hospice services. 

    Proven knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations required. Required to be self-directed professional with ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.  Computer literate.    Experience working with terminally ill patients and their families. Demonstrated ability to lead/supervise others and to work effectively with persons of varied backgrounds and educational experience. Possesses current Michigan motor vehicle license, ability to drive a car, and insured vehicle capable of transport to patient homes or other offices in various weather conditions.

    Job Description

    A Day in the Life 

    The role of the Specialist is to be knowledgeable in all disciplines of the Financial Counseling department. The Specialist provides leadership and support to the Financial Counseling team. In addition, this position acts as a resource for business functions related to all vendor and/or department operational processes and tasks.  

    Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.Present a team oriented, leadership role, promoting vision, goal-oriented direction, and creativity within work teams.

    Exercises a high degree of control over confidential information. 

    Utilizes operational reporting to identify areas of opportunity for improvement. Uses logic, data and reasoning for decision making. Uses process improvement techniques, including LEAN thinking, in daily work processes.

    Responsible in maintaining vendor documentation/reporting. Schedules and lead vendor quality and/or scorecard meetings. Maintains all vendor portals and processes all vendor accounts. Works reports per priority matrix.

    Trains new hires on team specific functions/processes. Supports staff and acts as a resource for questions. Assists with quality reviews and productivity.

    Ensures metrics perform within established parameters. Compiles and order supply requests for the department.

     

    Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications

    What’s Required  

    Associate’s degree in Health Services Administration or Business related field.  In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to a candidate with three (3) years revenue cycle experience and/or 1-2 years of post-high school education. 

    Two (2) years of experience specific to discipline.

    A Day in the Life 

    As a Medical Business Specialist (Receptionist), you are the first point of contact for patients & their families. Your personal interaction and efficiency start the path for an exceptional experience of care, wellness, and healing.

    You will obtain/verify all required patient and insurance information and enter the information into the registration system in an accurate manner.

    You will schedule patient appointments which may include return office visits, referrals, diagnostic testing/procedures. 

    You will set the tone for the visit! You will greet patients professionally in person and over the telephone and respond effectively to patients and their families.

    Qualifications

    What’s Required  

    High school graduate or GED. Associate Degree Preferred

    A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Medical Practice Business Associate or working in a similar healthcare role.

    A Day in the Life 

    THIS POSITION WILL SPECIFICALLY BE FOR THE "RECORDS STORAGE" DIVISION OF THE DISTRIBUTION CENTER, MANAGING 30,000+ BOXES OF RECORDS FOR MUNSON HEALTHCARE

    Promotes and insures customer satisfaction through prompt identification and resolution of customer complaints, problems and issues. Receives customer requests by telephone, email or mail and analyzes request to determine best response. Maintains overall inventory control by physical/computerized MMIS using approved procedures for accurately processing orders, replenishments, returns, credits and inventory discrepancy resolution. Analyzes and correctly processes customer returns and credits based on policy and appropriateness of return. Works with supplier representatives to monitor consignment inventory (where applicable). Addresses inventory issues with department contact as appropriate. Performs cycle counts quarterly along with an annual inventory (or more frequently as required). Assists in special projects that relate to specific inventory location. Performs inventory balancing checks on a monthly basis and is responsible for results. Receives and/or processes customer order requisitions/forms to issue stock and create pick tickets if not system generated. Verifies the accuracy of order keying and disburses pick tickets as appropriate to ensure ability to meet customer order shipments. As applicable, reviews completed pick tickets to ensure they are properly filled in and all discrepancies noted. Communicates non-fills, backorders or shortages to the customer. As applicable, does follow-up on non-fills, backorders or shortages with the customer to make sure patient care outcomes aren’t affected and communicates issues to appropriate people/areas. Helps set up new items, update current items, or remove inactive items from MMIS as needed. Utilizes inventory control information system to define reorder point parameters in support of assigned objectives. Routinely reviews reorder point parameters to adjust to changes in demand and/or supply. Creates, manages and updates requisition templates and PAR forms as needed. Conducts process for assurance of stock rotation as well as revision controlled inventory. Serves as a backup for, or assistant to, the Logistics Tech I with order pick processing when necessary to meet customer delivery requirements.  Qualifications

    What’s Required  

    2 Year / Associate Degree in business related field.  

    OR 

    High School or GED and minimum of 7years previous experience in a warehousing inventory control / materials planning environment or 5 years of experience in NMSA Supply Chain management.
