    Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThis is a full-time 40 hour a week position, with required weekend days.THE POSITION:We have an exciting opportunity at our Boston Animal Care and Adoption Center for an Animal Welfare Specialist. Animal Welfare Specialists (AWS) work directly with people and their pets to effect positive change in our community. Some job responsibilities include:Caring for animals at the adoption center, including the provision of exercise, food, water, enrichment and medications.Cleaning the adoption center rooms and cages.Participating in trainings and team discussions on behavior plans for all animalsProviding in-depth adoption counseling through thoughtful conversations with potential adopters to ensure the best match and outcomes for the animal and ownerProviding judgement free, empathetic surrender counseling to owners, and discussing alternative paths to surrender whenever availableAPPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:We are looking for applicants with at least one year of experience in a customer service/client care position. Previous animal experience is a plus! Anticipated length of assignment is 3-5 months.THE POSITION:We have an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Animal Welfare Specialist at our Boston Adoption Center. The vision of the MSPCA Animal Protection Division is to proactively address the underlying issues that put animals at risk. We value our connections to communities and organizations, and serve as a resource to protect the largest number of animals possible. Animal Welfare Specialists (AWS) are at the forefront of this mission, working directly with people and their pets to effect positive change in our community. Some job responsibilities include:Ensuring animals receive the best quality care including feeding, cleaning, exercising, socializing, enrichment, training, behavior observations and health/welfare monitoring.Facilitating adoptions by matchmaking animals with prospective adopters using a conversation-based approach with a goal of identifying the best possible outcome for the person and the animal.Answering incoming phone calls, emails and in person communications in regards to adoptions and surrenders. APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:We are looking for applicants with at least six months of previous work with animals. Previous animal shelter experience is a plus!
