    Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association is seeking a Microsoft Full Stack .Net Developer to join their Information Technology Department. This position reports to the IT Manager, Development and Operations and has no supervisory responsibilities.

     

    This role focuses on the development and ongoing maintenance of top-tier web applications and systems, ensuring they meet our business objectives, and includes the responsibility for updating and patching all application servers.

    *This position requires on-site work 3 days a week in our Boston office*

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    This position requires either a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent proven work experience, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Systems, including at least 4 years of programming experience with 2 of those years in Full Stack Development. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, Angular JS/Angular, PHP, WCF, Web API, ASP.Net MVC, and the .NET Framework is required. Additionally, a solid understanding of relational database concepts is essential.

     

    Candidate must also possess a working knowledge of VB .Net, VB Scripts, XML, Java, SQL, Visual Cobol, and Visual C#. An understanding of web-based solutions, including IIS, Apache, and Tomcat, is necessary. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, research abilities, and effective communication skills are crucial. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision and a high level of accuracy is also required.

     

    Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed to communicate with colleagues, clients and/or vendors and an ability to express ideas and concepts clearly is required. Must have a willingness to work as part of a team, sharing information and learning from colleagues. Strong analytical skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail are crucial. Must be able to work independently, have computer proficiency and maintain confidentiality.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Design, develop, and implement highly responsive web-based applications using the latest technologies and frameworks.Troubleshoot and resolve issues in collaboration with the network and database administration teams.Collaborate with the IT team to maintain and enhance the application's performance, security, functionality, adaptability.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, design solutions, and integrate them into existing systems.Use a variety of programming languages and tools to create a secure, user-friendly software.Stay abreast of developments in web applications and programming languages including emerging trends and technologies.Develop front end website architecture and back-end website applications.Ensure that transmissions to and from third-party vendors and service providers are secure.Evaluate new technologies for use at the Association.Administer and maintain all the Association’s websites.Develop database applications with MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.Translates detailed specifications into programming code. Keys new programs and program changes. Compiles, tests, and debugs programs after keying changes.Uphold development standards, ensuring adherence to industry-recommended guidelines.All other duties and projects as assigned.

    · Must be able to remain in a stationary position 100% of the time.

    · Needs to occasionally move about the office to access documents, office machinery, interact with team members, attend meetings, etc.

    · Operate a computer and other office productivity equipment as needed to meet the requirements of this position.

    · Read and create both physical and electronic documents.

    · Effectively communicate with employees, customers, vendors, and other internal and/or external business partners on the telephone, in writing and in person.

    · Think analytically, concentrate on assigned tasks, observe, and remember detail, and make decisions sufficient to meet the requirements of this position.

    Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association is seeking a Field Underwriting Representative to join their Underwriting Department. This position reports to the Field Inspections Supervisor and has no supervisory responsibilities.

    This position is responsible for the effective evaluation of properties submitted to the FAIR Plan by means of a physical inspection of the property. This position has final underwriting approval of certain properties within its designated limits of authority.

     

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    This position requires an associate’s degree or related experience in insurance or construction trades. Adequate working knowledge of building construction, plumbing, electrical and heating systems, and the ISO commercial rating schedule is preferred. This position requires the ability to learn new systems along with the review and entering of data with strict attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed to communicate with colleagues, clients and/or vendors and an ability to express ideas and concepts clearly is required. Strong organizational and analytical skills in addition to a high level of accuracy are crucial. Must have a safe driving record, be able to work independently, have computer proficiency and maintain confidentiality. Prior insurance experience and knowledge of computers is necessary.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Effectively evaluate the insurability of properties by performing a physical inspection of the interior and exterior of the building and when required, perform replacement cost calculations.Organize workload upon receiving assignments. Make phone calls to set up appointments with the named insured or the designated representative.Upload completed inspection reports, as their appropriate priority, in a timely manner in order to conform to established turnaround times.Underwrite property inspections up to assigned limits of authority, to determine values and insurability.Reduce MPIUA loss through tracking vacant and run-down properties.Provide customer satisfaction through prompt, courteous service.Maintain a favorable public relations image through contact with producers in the employee’s territory.Maintain and care for assigned fleet vehicle and Association’s equipment.Keep accurate records of automobile expenses, expenses incurred on the road, and inspections completed.Attend meetings and seminars to remain updated in relevant technical areas and company policies and procedures.All other duties and projects as assigned.

    This position is responsible for providing assistance to agents and customers in obtaining property insurance and resolving underwriting problems. This position has final underwriting approval for all policies within its designated limits of authority.


    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    This position requires a high school diploma/equivalency. Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed to communicate with colleagues, clients and/or vendors and an ability to express ideas and concepts clearly is required. Must have a willingness to work as part of a team, sharing information and learning from colleagues. Strong analytical skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail are crucial. Must be able to work independently, have computer proficiency and maintain confidentiality. Prior insurance experience and knowledge claims procedure are helpful, but not necessary.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Maintain understanding of policy (ISO Eligibility) MPIUA & RIJRA underwriting guidelines.Maintain basic knowledge of policy coverages including of policy endorsement coverage.Provision of same day insurance through the Association’s Immediate Coverage Program, via web, fax, mail, and in person at the front counter.Service of all MPIUA/RIJRA applicants and insureds through prompt, accurate courteous service ensuring the highest level of satisfaction. Maintain a favorable public relations image.Contribution to policy issuance through completion of applications and reception of premiums.Canapprove applications and issue up to their assigned limit.Can decide on policy changes (endorsement requests) up to assigned policy limits.Maintenance of MPIUA/RIJRA underwriting workflow through expeditious and thorough resolution of customer problems.Review of property inspections to determine values and insurability, including the declination and amendment of coverage when necessary.Ability to process payments for immediate coverage binders issued at the front counter.Reviews replacement cost estimators completed by producer and inspector to confirm accuracy.Maintains daily telephone contact with insureds, brokers and agents pertaining to such things as the status of an application or reason for rejecting an application.Make decisions on phones on how to handle underwriting and payment matters.Interact with Underwriters to resolve more complex underwriting and payment issues.Advises producers of new products and procedures during phone inquiries ensuring proper roll out.Accurate keying of policy abstract through understanding of coding procedures.Approve insurance coverages within designated limits of authority.Coordination of workflow to ensure issuance of items in order of priority.Maintenance of weekly work condition reports.All other duties and projects as assigned.
