Position Summary: The Lead Driver – Eastern Shore coordinates daily delivery operations for Eastern Shore routes, ensuring accurate meal distribution, timely dispatch of drivers, effective client service communication, inventory accountability, and safe vehicle operation. The Lead Driver is also responsible for delivering client orders off assigned routes. They also report essential information to Client Services staff about client needs, changes, and returns. The Lead Driver manages return inventory for any excess or short inventory and communicates this information to the Distribution and Distribution Managers daily.
Lead Drivers are responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of their assigned vehicles.
Responsible for maintaining delivery accuracy, on-time route departures, vehicle inspection compliance, and timely communication of client and inventory issues.At the end of the week reviews the next week’s daily route sheets for themselves and other ES drivers, and finalizes a delivery plan, conferring with Transportation Manager as necessary, to ensure the dispatch plan is appropriate to meet expected meal drop-offs.Daily, works with Eastern Shore (ES) Delivery Drivers to insure proper client orders are packed onto the vehicles with all items scheduled for delivery including food, supplies and informational flyers ensuring that clients receive items as scheduled.Properly packs, stores and returns meals for delivery onto their vehicle to ensure appropriate safety and quality control measures are in place.Once all ES drivers have been instructed on their routes, completes assigned daily delivery routes as assigned.Adheres to all traffic laws and safe driving practices as required by the Moveable Feast driver’s manual.Makes regular contact with assigned clients to ensure successful delivery, determine any needed changes, and relay information to Client Services team.Engages respectfully, courteously and pleasantly with each staff member and client, noting any special needs or problems which may be apparent.
