    IT Technician Job Description

    We are looking for technically skilled candidates with good problem-solving ability for the position of IT technician. The duties of an IT technician include being a reference point for all IT related queries at the user level, responding to user needs in a timely manner and ensuring the optimal running of all systems, among other technical duties.  The right candidate will repair existing or confiture new PC's, laptops, iPhones, iPads, other similar electronic devices such as biometric clocking machines.  Knowledge on building new servers, VOIP phone systems and setup, knowledge of Micrsoft Office suite and setup.

     

    IT technicians are expected to display good interpersonal skills as they will interact with colleagues from various departments and executive levels. They are required to listen to their technical needs, understand their problems, and implement solutions to them.

     

    IT Technician Responsibilities:

    Installing and configuring hardware and software components to ensure usability.Troubleshooting hardware and software issues (PC's, iPads, iPhones, VOIP phonesEnsuring electrical safety standards are met.Repairing or replacing damaged hardware and upgrading or updating hardware as needed.Upgrading the entire system to enable compatible software on all computers.Installing and upgrading anti-virus software to ensure security at the user level.Performing tests and evaluations of new software and hardware.Providing support to users and being the first point of contact for error reporting.Establishing good relationships with all departments and colleagues.Conducting daily backup operations.Managing technical documentation.Website assistance, SEO/SEM, digital marketingFamiliarity with digital and social media marketing 

    IT Technician Requirements:

    Key Responsibilities

    I. Curriculum & Instruction

    Provide responsive, individualized care to all children by adapting routines and plans to their interests and needs.Conduct daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of the children.Ensure a healthy, safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment for children, both indoors and outdoors.Prepare and serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines, assisting with nutrition and food service monitoring.Integrate special needs children respectfully, preparing the environment and meeting their developmental requirements.Set and enforce appropriate, non-punitive rules for children's behavior and classroom order, adhering to developmental needs and agency guidelines.Clean and sterilize equipment and toys regularly.

     

    III. Parent & Family Engagement

    Complete child transition and classroom orientation with parents.Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents/caregivers, fostering strong relationships.Create a classroom environment that actively encourages parent participation.Serve as a liaison with families to ensure smooth transitions between home and child care setting, and from classroom to classroom (e.g., toddler to preschool, preschool to kindergarten).

     

    IV. Team Leadership & Collaboration

    Conduct weekly supervision and bi-monthly meetings with Associate and Assistant Teachers to discuss child progress, curriculum, and environment preparation.Plan, delegate, and assign work effectively to Assistant Teachers weekly.Participate in all required school/agency staff development, in-service trainings, and educational development opportunities.Collaborate collegially with other staff members and assistant teachers to achieve program standards based on Title V.

     

    V. Administrative & Compliance

    Education & Certifications

    Minimum AA degree in Child Development preferred, other subject acceptable, withMinimum 24 units in Child Development or Early Childhood Education including CORE courses in Child/Human Growth and Development; Child, Family and Community and Program/Curriculum, or ability to apply for Teacher Permit within three months of employmentChild Development Teacher Permit required or Assoc.     GENERAL SUMMARY

    Under the direction of the Program Director and Administrator, the Center Site Director is responsible for the comprehensive management, development, administration, and supervision of a Child Development Center. This role ensures the center operates in full compliance with Title V, Title XXII, and all agency policies. The Director leads programmatic excellence, staff development, and curriculum implementation for Early Childhood programs serving children from birth through age 5, integrating both Montessori and Early Childhood Education principles and practices. This position plays a pivotal role in the continuous improvement and expansion of the agency’s preschool program.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    I. Center Leadership & Operations

    Oversee day-to-day operations of the Program Site, maintaining a harmonious and efficient work environment.Ensure consistent compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, including CA State licensing requirements (Title XXII) and California Department of Education regulations (Title V).License facilities and ensure continuous conformity to licensing requirements; respond to licensing reports.Maintain fiscal responsibility for the ECE and School Age program budget and grant deliverables, including preparing, monitoring, and filing expenses for material and supply purchases.Enforce health and safety policies for children and staff; lead program crisis response, plan emergency drills, and prevent/monitor/report accidents.Manage organizational and administrative responsibilities for the Program Site, including office and classroom coverage.Coordinate and manage student recruitment, enrollment, and retention to operate at maximum efficiency.Initiate marketing efforts in collaboration with the Program Coordinator and Admin staff to promote childcare openings.Participate in Management and Program Quality Team activities.

     

    II. Program & Curriculum Management

    Supervise, implement, and evaluate the curriculum for ages birth through 5, ensuring a thorough understanding and application of both Child Development and Montessori Methods.Develop, implement, and manage annual operating budget based on public and private revenue, adhering to financial budget goals.Create and achieve clear, ambitious goals for student growth, development, and achievement.Facilitate and manage grade-level curriculum development, ensuring alignment with California Preschool Learning Foundations, Curriculum Framework, and Common Core Standards for Kindergarten.Oversee Response to Intervention and Special Education Processes, ensuring educational needs of English language learners and special needs students are met.Oversee administration of multiple forms of assessments to measure and improve teaching and learning; use data to inform decisions.Provide in-service training to teachers, parents, and the community on topics related to school readiness and early learning.Maintain a warm, accepting, and developmentally-appropriate environment that promotes holistic child and family development.Ensure individualized, personalized, responsive care is provided.Set and maintain appropriate non-punitive standards for children's discipline and behavior.Assist staff in resolving conflicts between children and communicating with families.

     

    III. Staff Leadership & Development

    Train, supervise, observe, and evaluate the performance of all assigned early childhood staff.Make recommendations regarding hiring and termination of early childhood staff.Conduct annual staff performance reviews and implement performance management practices to ensure high staff performance.Manage program staff, including oversight to staff scheduling, conducting regular staff meetings, meeting individually with staff, and facilitating staff development trainings.Manage the process of recruiting, interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training new program staff.Facilitate and monitor ongoing certification of existing certified employees and certification of classified employees.Inspire staff to work diligently and professionally, especially during times of low staff ratios or staff hardships.Serve as a teacher in the classroom if gaps in scheduling occur.Build a professional work environment characterized by hard work, respect, collaboration, and constant feedback, reflection, and action.Work with the Program Director and Administrator to set goals and implement strategic and financial plans.

     

    IV. Family & Community Engagement

    Serve as liaison between center staff and parents, reinforcing the parents' role as primary educators and caregivers.Effectively recruit parents and students for preschool programs.Build and maintain positive, reciprocal relationships with staff, volunteers, parents, and children.Establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with outside agencies (e.g., Local Educational Agencies, Resource & Referral Services, LA County Office of Education, First 5 LA, local governments, non-profits, businesses) to access resources and maintain strong community standing.Foster positive relationships with internal stakeholders, the SHPS Board, and philanthropic organizations.

     

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

    Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with at least 24 units in Early Childhood Education.Must hold or be eligible for, and maintain eligibility for, a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit in accordance with the criteria established by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.Minimum five years of teaching experience in a CSPP preschool setting as a Lead Teacher (Montessori classroom experience a plus).Minimum two years of management and supervisory experience in an early childhood program.Montessori Diploma from an accredited Montessori training institution is required, or willingness to obtain within the first two years of employment. Montessori training at the agency level or other is insufficient.Thorough working knowledge of Title V and Title XXII regulations.Knowledge of the Transitional Kindergarten system and requirements.Ability to work with special needs families and knowledge of educational needs for English language learners and special needs students.Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, linguistic, ethnic backgrounds, and disabilities of students and staff.Ability to plan and implement events involving preschool students, parents, and staff.Valid California Driver’s License.Knowledge of child abuse reporting requirements.Maintain valid First Aid and CPR certification.Must be able to pass a drug screen test and fingerprint background check.CALIFORNIA STATE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM (CSPP) EXPERIENCE PREFERRED.

    GENERAL SUMMARY

    Under the direction of the Program Director and Administrator, the Center Site Director is responsible for the comprehensive management, development, administration, and supervision of a Child Development Center. This role ensures the center operates in full compliance with Title V, Title XXII, and all agency policies.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    I. Center Leadership & Operations

    III. Staff Leadership & Development

    Train, supervise, observe, and evaluate the performance of all assigned early childhood staff.Make recommendations regarding hiring and termination of early childhood staff.Conduct annual staff performance reviews and implement performance management practices to ensure high staff performance.Manage program staff, including oversight to staff scheduling, conducting regular staff meetings, meeting individually with staff, and facilitating staff development trainings.Manage the process of recruiting, interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training new program staff.Facilitate and monitor ongoing certification of existing certified employees and certification of classified employees.Inspire staff to work diligently and professionally, especially during times of low staff ratios or staff hardships.Serve as a teacher in the classroom if gaps in scheduling occur.Build a professional work environment characterized by hard work, respect, collaboration, and constant feedback, reflection, and action.Work with the Program Director and Administrator to set goals and implement strategic and financial plans.

     

    IV. Family & Community Engagement

    Serve as liaison between center staff and parents, reinforcing the parents' role as primary educators and caregivers.Effectively recruit parents and students for preschool programs.Build and maintain positive, reciprocal relationships with staff, volunteers, parents, and children.Establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with outside agencies (e.g., Local Educational Agencies, Resource & Referral Services, LA County Office of Education, First 5 LA, local governments, non-profits, businesses) to access resources and maintain strong community standing.Foster positive relationships with internal stakeholders, the SHPS Board, and philanthropic organizations.

     

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

    Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with at least 24 units in Early Childhood Education.Must hold or be eligible for, and maintain eligibility for, a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit in accordance with the criteria established by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.Minimum five years of teaching experience in a CSPP preschool setting as a Lead Teacher (Montessori classroom experience a plus).Minimum two years of management and supervisory experience in an early childhood program.Montessori Diploma from an accredited Montessori training institution is required, or willingness to obtain within the first two years of employment. The Lead Teacher builds strong partnerships with parents, ensures adherence to all State and local regulations (including Title V), and serves as a passionate, dedicated role model for assistant teachers, embodying the agency's core values. Upholding high standards of care is paramount to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children.

    Key Responsibilities

    I. Curriculum & Instruction

    Develop, plan weekly, and implement age-appropriate curriculum (lesson plans) that stimulate all domains of children’s development, incorporating Montessori methods and ECE principles.Prepare classroom materials and environments daily to support planned activities, reflecting children's learning and growth.Design and conduct a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that encourages observation, questioning, and investigation.Provide a rich variety of materials and an environment that fosters cultural diversity, exploration, and imaginative play.Perform ongoing developmental evaluations of children as required by funding sources (e.g., DRDP, ECERS, Parent Survey), developing lesson plans that address individual needs.Prepare developmental progress reports and conduct periodical parent conferences to discuss children's progress, needs, and interests.Demonstrate cultural competency by integrating children's cultural, linguistic, and familial values and beliefs into the program and lesson plans.Promote literacy, strong communication, discussion, and interaction with children.

     

    II. Child Development & Care

    Provide responsive, individualized care to all children by adapting routines and plans to their interests and needs.Conduct daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of the children.Ensure a healthy, safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment for children, both indoors and outdoors.Prepare and serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines, assisting with nutrition and food service monitoring.Integrate special needs children respectfully, preparing the environment and meeting their developmental requirements.Set and enforce appropriate, non-punitive rules for children's behavior and classroom order, adhering to developmental needs and agency guidelines.Clean and sterilize equipment and toys regularly.

     

    III. Parent & Family Engagement

    Complete child transition and classroom orientation with parents.Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents/caregivers, fostering strong relationships.Create a classroom environment that actively encourages parent participation.Serve as a liaison with families to ensure smooth transitions between home and child care setting, and from classroom to classroom (e.g., toddler to preschool, preschool to kindergarten).

     

    IV. Team Leadership & Collaboration

    Conduct weekly supervision and bi-monthly meetings with Associate and Assistant Teachers to discuss child progress, curriculum, and environment preparation.Plan, delegate, and assign work effectively to Assistant Teachers weekly.Participate in all required school/agency staff development, in-service trainings, and educational development opportunities.Collaborate collegially with other staff members and assistant teachers to achieve program standards based on Title V.

     

    V. Administrative & Compliance

    Maintain accurate, complete, and timely client, agency, and attendance records (e.g., daily meal/attendance, emergency forms, child development profiles).Become familiar with and implement emergency procedures and protocols.Prepare annual inventory of classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.Participate in fundraising efforts for the school.

     

    Education & Certifications

    Minimum AA degree in Child Development preferred, other subject acceptable, withMinimum 24 units in Child Development or Early Childhood Education including CORE courses in Child/Human Growth and Development; Child, Family and Community and Program/Curriculum, or ability to apply for Teacher Permit within three months of employmentChild Development Teacher Permit required or Assoc. Teacher min. with ability to apply for Teacher permit (must keep valid and updated).5 -10 years minimum teaching experience and 3 years as a lead teacher supervising other adultsMontessori Training Diploma from an accredited institution preferred, or willingness to obtain formal training after the completion of one year of employment required.

     

    Experience, Skills & Abilities

    Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a lead teacher in a classroom, including supervising other staff.Demonstrated dedication and enthusiasm for working with young children in a child development setting.Knowledge of Desired Results (DRDP), ECERS, Parent Survey, and Developmentally Appropriate Practices.Familiarity with California State Preschool Program (CSPP) Requirements for Center-based Programs.Strong communication, problem-solving, and priority-setting skills.Ability to effectively plan, organize, and implement educational activities.Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to use computer systems for developmental data input.Ability to make sound decisions on behalf of children and protect their well-being.Must be able to manage confidential information.

    Frequently walks, uses hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, and talks or hears.Often required to stand, sit, reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, or crawl.Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and up to a 40-pound child in case of emergency.Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.May occasionally be required to drive a motor vehicle.Responsible for daily cleaning, preparation, and maintenance of equipment, furniture, and the classroom/facility (indoors and outdoors) to ensure a clean and safe environment for children.On occasion, may be required to assist with meal preparation or work directly with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children during staff absences.

    Attendance is an essential function of this job. Our programs operate year-round (52 weeks) on a yearly contract basis.
