FIRMWARE ENGINEER
Monaco Enterprises, Inc., a Spokane based manufacturer of fire, mass notification, and security alarm systems, is seeking a professional, result-oriented, enthusiastic candidate to participate in designing, developing, and documenting electronic products, systems and circuits.
Monaco is expanding the Firmware Engineering team to develop the next generation of our proprietary embedded products. Successful candidates must be fluent in C/C++ programming, possess experience in embedded hardware applications, and have an interest in collaborating within a small product development team. Candidates should possess a willingness to utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistance and tooling to support firmware development and problem-solving within the Firmware Engineering lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities:
A successful candidate will join the firmware engineering team with a focus on tasks to solve well-defined problems. The successful candidate will perform the following duties:
Analysis and troubleshooting of embedded operations and hardware interfaces
Discovery and design of firmware specifications and code modules
Development of firmware code for well-defined problems and established designs
Firmware documentation and QA activities
Utilize modern AI assistance and tooling to accelerate the problem-solving process.
Essential Functions:
Capability to understand the operation of embedded hardware components
Capability to analyze and troubleshoot embedded firmware operations and hardware interfaces
Firmware discovery and design, including research and collaboration on technical specifications and methods
Implementation of embedded firmware applications, hardware interface APIs, and test application suites
Documentation of specifications, source code and product results
Perform first level QA activities: identify test strategies, unit testing, resolve defects and perform root cause analysis
Follow established firmware development processes and best practices
Collaborate with engineering team members on new ideas, processes, and projects
Job Requirements:
BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related technology field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience outside of education
Experience working on embedded systems and interfacing with hardware components
Experience as an individual contributor throughout the embedded development lifecycle
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Technologies:
C/C++ programming languages
Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), Compilers, Debuggers, Processors such as:
Crossworks IDE, GCC toolchain
STM32 processors and hardware application layer
Git, GitFlow
Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, meters, spectrum analyzers
Ability to read and comprehend electronic schematic diagram
Proficiency in leveraging AI assistance and emerging technologies to optimize firmware development workflows

Job Responsibilities:
Frequent domestic and occasional global travel (75% typical)
Support proprietary Windows based software
Support and configure Ethernet networks and network devices
Safely mount/install proprietary hardware solutions such as POE cameras and large screen monitors using ladders on customer sites
Run cabling infrastructure within facilities in support of proprietary hardware/network solutions
Assist customers with technical issues over the phone and on customer sites
Provide formal and informal customer training for installed solutions
Provide 24/7 on-call customer support on rotating basis (one week out of every six weeks typical)
Learn fire alarm systems and code fundamentals in order to understand and support the core business
Qualifications for an Ideal Candidate:
A.A. Degree in a Technical Field (or equivalent technical experience)
Technology and/or networking troubleshooting background

Electronic Technician II
Monaco Enterprises, a Spokane Valley based manufacturer of fire and emergency management systems, is seeking an Electronic Technician. The person in this position performs a wide variety of testing and repair of electrical, electronic, radio frequency, and computer based systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Overall Purpose of Job: Perform a wide variety of testing and repairing of electrical, electronic, radio frequency and computer based systems.
Essential Functions:
Electronically align, calibrate, and test manufactured products and systems including radio frequency systems, following established procedures
Troubleshoot and repair circuits, products, and systems as required in production. Modify and update standard and prototype products
Recognize, identify, and document potential problems in manufacturing and/or testing processes
Submit requests for materials, tools, equipment, and other items as required to perform primary function
Maintain production schedule as communicated by Production Manager
Design and fabricate fixtures and generate test procedures for Manufacturing, Test, and Quality Assurance Departments
Generate manufacturing and/or test data summaries and conclusions
Assist in development, training, and safety of all lower level technicians
Program and test software driven products
Maintain a high level of acceptance on all work performed
Maintain a good working relationship with contacts in all departments
Maintain regular, consistent attendance and punctuality
Accurately complete time each day in Global Shop to provide record of time spent for each assigned job
Perform other test or assembly operations at the direction of the Production Manager
Work within safety guidelines provided by the Safety Committee
Fully understand all SDSs (Safety Data Sheets) applicable to work areas used
Recommend procedures to ensure employee safety
Utilize all protective devices as required
Report all safety violations immediately
Report all accidents immediately

Financial Responsibilities: None
Supervision and Authority: Receives general, direct supervision from Production Manager performing within established test procedures, operating procedures, engineering bills of material, assembly drawings, written instructions, and verbal instructions. May make discretionary decisions as to the allocation of time, design details, and materials to be used.
Technology/Equipment Used: Electronic test equipment including oscilloscope, digital volt meter, power supplies, and radio frequency calibration equipment. May occasionally use hand tools and power tools such as screw drivers, wrenches, files, drill-press, and band saw. Computer terminal, personal computer, printers, and component pieces.
Working Environment and Conditions: Normal conditions of printed circuit board manufacturing and test area. May be exposed to soldering fluxes and solvents commonly used in printed circuit board assembly. Area is ventilated and air conditioned, with normal temperature about 75◦F.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 40 hours per week.
