Position Summary
MMSC Day School is seeking a dedicated and engaging part-time ELA Educator to teach English Language Arts to our seventh- and eighth-grade boys. This position also includes opportunities to provide small-group and individualized academic support.
The ideal candidate will create a structured, positive classroom environment while helping students strengthen their reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, literary analysis, and communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging English Language Arts instructionTeach reading comprehension, literature, writing, grammar, spelling, and vocabularyUse established curriculum materials while adapting instruction to meet student needsDifferentiate lessons for students with varying academic strengths and learning needsProvide small-group and individualized academic supportAssess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedbackMaintain accurate records of student progress, assignments, and gradesEstablish clear expectations and foster a respectful learning environmentCollaborate with school leadership, educators, and student-support staffCommunicate professionally with families regarding student progressParticipate in applicable staff meetings, professional development, and school activities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English, education, or a related fieldStrong knowledge of English Language Arts content and instructional practicesPrevious experience teaching or working with middle school studentsAbility to differentiate instruction and support a range of learning needsStrong classroom-management, communication, and organizational skillsTeaching certification or relevant graduate study preferredCollaborative, dependable, flexible, and student-centeredRespect for and willingness to support the mission and values of a Jewish day schoolAvailability to work on-site Monday through Friday from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
