This position exists to reduce fire related deaths, injuries, and property damage through the adoption and implementation of statewide fire safety codes and standards. This position provides written and verbal responses to requests for information on fire safety and the state fire code. In doing so, the position works closely with State Fire Marshal (SFM) division inspection staff, various state agencies, local fire code officials, design professionals, contractors, property owners, and the public to provide information on the provisions, application, and intent of the state fire code. This position assists in adopting the state fire code, conducts fire prevention training, and performs fire and life-safety inspections and code analysis reports where assigned. This work involves complex application and interpretation of the state fire code, state building code, referenced codes and standards, state statutes, and administrative rules.

Three (3) years’ experience with at least one of the following items where such activities were a primary function of the position: Conducting comprehensive building inspections, including the issuance of corrective orders or detailed reports of findings, to ensure compliance with a nationally recognized model fire code or building code such as IFC, NFPA 1, NFPA 101, IBC, or NFPA 5000 ORDirect involvement with the adoption, administration, maintenance or enforcement of a nationally recognized model fire code or building code such as IFC, NFPA 1, NFPA 101, IBC, or NFPA 5000Possession of a valid Class D Driver's License. Towing trailers up to a gross vehicle combination weight of 26,000 pounds may also be required.Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.Preferred Qualifications
A working knowledge of building construction types, fire-related construction components and design, and the ability to apply appropriate fire code requirements to specific construction types and designs.Knowledge of fire protection systems including fire sprinkler, fire alarm, hydrant, standpipes, and alternate systems; and the applicable MSFC and NFPA requirements for these systems. Demonstrable history of solving complex fire- and life-safety issues through application of fire safety methods, materials, and technologies.Ability to manage and organize work activities with minimal direct supervision. Ability to learn and use computer-based programs to write correction orders and reports. Ability to impart knowledge in a non-confrontational manner to people on a one-to-one basis as well as to large audiences.Ability to provide consultation on the fire code and develop effective working relationships with professional groups including building owners, maintenance personnel, architects and design engineers, fire and building service officials and other state, county, local and federal agencies.Certification as a Fire Inspector I with the Minnesota Fire Service Certification Board (or equivalent).Ability to effectively develop and present fire code and inspection related educational content to groups of various sizes.Ability to educate property owners and managers on the benefits of achieving compliance by explaining the rationale and history behind specific fire code provisions and fire-safety practices.Physical Requirements
The appointee must have the physical ability to maintain a stationary position for extended periods (e.g., at a desk and computer) as well as driving long distances, as some job assignments require traveling to various areas of the state. This position also involves delivering presentations, which may require remaining in a seated or standing position for several hours. Occasionally this position will require inspection of all interior and exterior areas of buildings. This includes the ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairways and traverse along uneven terrain. The appointee must be able to lift items up to 30 lbs. in weight and carry these items for short distances.

Job Summary

This position exists to assist in the administration of the statewide Department of Public Safety (DPS) Ignition Interlock Device Program (IIDP). The Ignition Interlock Specialist processes applications for enrollment into the ignition interlock program, monitors individuals who are enrolled in the program and processes the graduation of participants from the program. The incumbent acts as the representative of the program, working closely with and providing information in writing, over telephone or in person to participants, probation officers, interlock manufacturers, attorneys, and other county/court representatives, law enforcement personnel and other related DPS personnel.

As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for representing market needs and marketing a group of Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) Minnesota Justice Information Services (MNJIS) business and information products and services, assisting in driving product strategy, representing BCA customers in determining product maintenance and support priorities, and product release plans. The position requires close interaction with BCA MNJIS development teams, key BCA customers, BCA's product portfolio management process, and strategic and tactical planning for MNJIS. The position must maintain a close relationship with the criminal justice information services market, working proactively to ensure that product innovation and market needs are fully covered. The position will work with key customers, including county and city criminal justice agencies, in resolving problems related to products/services availability and functioning, while serving as the key product/service stakeholder for complex service development projects. The position will be responsible for the outbound marketing activities for MNJIS products and services. This includes developing product positioning and innovative marketing programs that will drive demand for the products. The primary responsibilities are for the marketing of these products/services, including product enhancements to meet customer business requirements, and to represent customer and product lifecycle needs in the product/service development and maintenance process.
MNJIS is looking for individuals that have skills in at least one of two major areas. The candidate should have an extensive background in product management and development or have been a senior manager in a criminal justice agency and under their guidance the agency should have implemented/upgraded several technology enhancements aimed at the integration of information and improving the use of technology in support of the agency's business process. This position will have the option of teleworking up to two (2) days per week.

The Records Agent represents the primary in person and electronic mail contact for DVS and is the agency’s face to customers coming in-person to divisional public offices.
Records Agents answer questions and fulfill requests for driver’s license and motor vehicle transactions and information, including registration, report of sale, and titling, as well as inquiries from law enforcement agencies, deputy registrars, driver’s license agents, and DVS branch offices.
Record Agents locate customer records in the electronic DVS system and provide information in response to customer inquires or print out copies of records to clientele, performing counter operations, electronic transactions and accurate fee collection while following the guidance of State and Federal data privacy laws.

Ability to communicate with others and understand information; read, write and respond to customers in fluent English.Cashiering and basic math skills in order to collect, count, reconcile and complete daily transactions.Ability to provide in-person customer service sufficient to assist working in a high volume, stressful environment.Ability to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers on the phone or in person (face to face contact).Typing/Keyboarding skills.Data entry skills sufficient to enter accurate data onto paper forms and computer entry screens.Preferred Qualifications

Job Summary
The Criminal History Access Analyst position is responsible for maintaining and disseminating complete, accurate and timely adult and juvenile criminal history records for individuals in Minnesota. An individual’s criminal history record is a core information service within the criminal justice system that the BCA is responsible for and is used for various critical criminal justice and non-criminal justice purposes both within Minnesota and nationally. For criminal justice purposes, the information is used to make key decisions regarding arrest, detention, release, sentencing, charging etc. For non-criminal justice purposes, the information is used to make key decision regarding employment, licensing, housing, child welfare etc. This position serves as a subject matter expert in the area of criminal history information, background checks and/or biometrics and works with all facets of the criminal justice system to ensure that state and federal statutes, as well as other federal, state, and local rules and policies are applied appropriately to provide the most comprehensive picture of an individual’s criminal history.
