    Job Title: Assistant Teacher

    Reports to: Lead Guide

    Employee Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt

    Daily Schedule: Full-time: Monday - Friday - time varies based on position

    Salary Range: $19.40 - $22.00/hour - BOE


    Overview:

    Midtown Montessori Academy is currently seeking full-time ECE Assistant Teachers to join our team of dedicated educators who share a love and respect for children. We have positions available at two of our three campuses, Berkeley Park (Highlands), and Sloan’s Lake (Wheat Ridge). Assistants in our Montessori environments assist the lead guide in implementing the Montessori pedagogical approach in the classroom. They organize and maintain cleanliness throughout the classroom, while modeling kindness, responsibility and peaceful interactions with the children.


    About Us:

    Midtown Montessori Academy was founded in 2018 to provide an authentic Montessori education for children from ages 8 weeks to sixth grade. We believe each child deserves the opportunity to explore their own educational path, led by what piques their individual curiosity, instead of a traditional dictation-based education method.


    Responsibilities:

    Manage daily transitions with the children using loving guidance and firm expectations.

    Take direction from the lead guide and follow through.

    Ask questions and request guidance any time it is necessary.

    Refer all significant parent questions and concerns to the lead guide.

    Perform daily classroom maintenance duties such as snack & lunch preparation as well as daily disinfection of classroom materials.

    Work with leadership to develop an individual professional development plan.

    Participate positively as a member of the school, handle conflict well with colleagues, and avoid gossip.

    Attend all staff meetings and professional development days.


    The Ideal Candidate:

    Appreciates and responds positively to guidance and feedback from team members.

    Is willing to commit to the school for a full school year.

    Has initiative and curiosity, including a willingness to ask questions.

    Is joyful, reliable, committed, energetic, patient and detail oriented.

    Is comfortable working with children ages 8 weeks to 6 years old, including bathroom assistance.

    Is able to easily bend, squat, lift, climb, carry and sit on the floor for extended periods.


    Qualification Requirements:

    Meets all state standards for early childhood teacher.

    Strong work history and good references.

    Experience in early childhood classrooms (preferred).

    Montessori experience is a plus.

    Professional appearance, attitude, and attendance.

    College degree preferred but not required.

    Criminal record that does not include any felonies, any crimes against children, any violent crimes, a pattern of misdemeanor convictions, or any conviction of any sort in the past 24 months.

    Able to lift and turn carrying at least 40 lbs. and sit on a tile floor for at least 60 mins.

    Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:Operational Management:

    Ensure the school operates in compliance with company policies, Department of Health regulations, Department of Labor standards, and Colorado State Licensing requirements.

    Oversee daily operations, including managing the front office and ensuring smooth functioning of all school activities.

    Coordinate with Cintas for facility maintenance and supplies.

    Staff Management:

    Ensure all classrooms are adequately staffed each day, including managing absences and arranging for substitutes as needed.

    Adjust staffing schedules to maintain appropriate teacher-to-student ratios in classrooms.

    Supervise and support teacher development, including hiring, state-required training, and ensuring all licensing documentation is up to date.

    Host monthly lead meetings and coordinate staff development days, including planning and facilitating relevant training and professional development opportunities.

    Maintain the Staff Handbook and manage staff communications, including handling payroll, staff reimbursements, and other administrative tasks.

    Educational Environment:

    Create and sustain an educational, caring, and safe environment for children and parents.

    Conduct monthly classroom observations to ensure educational standards and student engagement are being met.

    Facilitate Student Behavior Meetings, addressing behavioral concerns and collaborating with staff to develop appropriate strategies.

    Parent and Community Engagement:

    Maintain regular communication with parents, including sending updates via email every 30 days.

    Plan and coordinate school events, ensuring adequate staffing and resources are in place.

    Collaborate with the Executive Team on tasks such as calling inclement weather delays/closures, handling classroom newsletters, and managing classroom budgets.

    Administrative Duties:

    Manage supply ordering for consumables and classroom supplies.

    Work with the Kitchen Manager to develop and maintain monthly snack menus and oversee snack ordering.

    Handle coordination with external partners such as ELV and TC for specific requests or issues.

    Ensure timely completion of monthly licensing checks and emergency drills.

    Facility and Maintenance Coordination:

    Oversee the coordination with the Facilities Manager for maintenance requests and ensure timely resolution of facility issues.

    Consult with the school nurse monthly to address health and safety concerns.

    Strategic and Collaborative Planning:

    Work closely with the Executive Team on various strategic initiatives and administrative tasks.

    Discuss and review goals with the team, ensuring alignment with school objectives and staff development needs.


    The Ideal Candidate:

    Previous Montessori experience and training.

    Previous leadership experience.

    Appreciates and responds positively to guidance and feedback from team members.

    Is willing to commit to the school for a full school year.

    Has initiative and curiosity, including a willingness to ask questions.

    Is joyful, reliable, committed, energetic, patient and detail oriented.

    Preference will be given to candidates with a BA or BS or higher degree.

    Qualification Requirements:
