    SUMMARY:

    We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Class A CDL Shipping Loader to join our team at Mid-American Steel & Wire. This position will involve loading and unloading materials, ensuring the safe and efficient transport of steel products to various destinations. The ideal candidate will possess a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL), experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

    What we are looking for:

    Someone who can set their own pace, work in a team environment, and build productive relationships by solving problems. Experience in the steel manufacturing industry is a plus.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

    Additional Duties as assigned by the corporate management team

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

    1. Shipping & Loading: Load and unload steel products and materials onto trucks or other shipping vehicles while ensuring the safe handling and proper documentation of all shipments.

    2. Vehicle Operation: Safely operate Class A CDL vehicles to transport goods within the company or to offsite locations, as needed.

    3. Material Handling: Assist in the proper stacking, securing, and organization of steel materials for shipment in compliance with safety protocols and company standards.

    4. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles and equipment to ensure they remain in proper working conditions.

    5. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and policies, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following OSHA guidelines.

    6. Documentation & Reporting: Accurately complete shipping documents, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and inventory logs.

    7. Collaboration: Work closely with the shipping team, production staff, and other departments to ensure efficient material flow and timely order fulfillment.

    8. Problem Solving: Identify and report any issues with shipping, loading, or material handling and work to resolve them in a timely and efficient manner.

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent

    Class A CDL with no restrictions and maintain a clean driving record

    Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    Good communication and teamwork abilities.

    1. Set up and calibrate the melt shop equipment to ensure proper functioning for specific metal shapes and sizes.
    2. Operate and monitor the melt shop machinery, adjusting settings as required to meet product specifications.
    3. Load raw materials (metal billets, slabs, etc.) into the mill and ensure accurate input.
    4. Monitor the quality of the billet products, ensuring it meets the required standards for thickness, shape, and surface finish.
    5. Perform regular inspections of products during production to detect defects, report issues, and make necessary adjustments.
    6. Document production processes and quality control data for tracking and reporting purposes.
    7. Diagnose and troubleshoot any mechanical or operational issues with the melt shop machinery.
    8. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, and parts replacement.
    9. Coordinate with maintenance teams for more complex repairs or adjustments.
    10. Ensure that all safety protocols and industry regulations are followed at all times while operating the machinery.
    11. Participate in safety training and keep work areas clean and organized to avoid accidents.
    12. Monitor for potential hazards, report unsafe conditions, and make suggestions for process improvements.
    13. Maintain steady production flow, adjusting machine settings and operating procedures as necessary to improve productivity and reduce downtime.
    14. Work with supervisors to optimize processes and minimize material waste.
    15. Keep accurate records of production data, maintenance schedules, and machine performance.
    16. Report any abnormalities or issues to supervisors and assist in implementing corrective actions.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus.
    • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

    Salary/Compensation: $15.50 per hour plus commission
