    About the Role

    We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our growing team in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. This role is responsible for analyzing project documents, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, and preparing comprehensive cost estimates for competitive bid proposals. The Estimator will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of bids while building strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.


    Successful candidates will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess exceptional attention to detail, and bring a collaborative approach to preconstruction efforts.



    Key Responsibilities


    Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to confirm complete and coordinated scopes of work.




    Identify and evaluate risk factors and develop strategies to mitigate them during bidding.




    Manage and respond to invitations to bid and coordinate proposal submissions.




    Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analyses for assigned trades.




    Collaborate with managers on conceptual budgets and preliminary pricing efforts.




    Develop bid tab sheets, gather and analyze subcontractor proposals, and prepare bid tabulations.




    Author trade-specific qualifications and exclusions for bid packages.




    Maintain and grow subcontractor and supplier relationships, ensuring alignment with company values and client expectations.




    Participate in industry networking events to expand subcontractor database and market knowledge.




    Coordinate smooth turnover of awarded projects to the project management team.





    Qualifications


    Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).




    Minimum of 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction.




    Proficiency with On-Screen Takeoff and other estimating software.




    Strong mathematical, analytical, and computer skills.




    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)(link removed)>


    Familiarity with Division 216 trades (site work through finishes).




    Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to work cross-functionally.

    Key Responsibilities
    Scheduling & Coordination


    Develop and maintain the master project schedule in coordination with the project team.




    Prepare detailed two-week look-ahead schedules to manage daily labor and tasks.




    Proactively schedule subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to meet project milestones.




    Subcontractor & Vendor Oversight


    Lead preconstruction meetings to review scope, schedule, and expectations.




    Monitor subcontractor performance, ensuring quality and schedule compliance.




    Issue non-compliance notices and resolve conflicts with senior leadership as needed.




    Safety & Compliance

    Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and maintain required safety documentation.




    Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite environment at all times.




    Quality Control


    Oversee all quality assurance processes to confirm alignment with project drawings and approved submittals.

    Maintain detailed daily logs and site photos for project reporting.




    Communication & Reporting


    Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings and provide updates to project management.

    Leadership & Mentorship


    Train and mentor Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and Laborers.

    Qualifications


    7+ years of commercial construction experience as a Superintendent or similar leadership role.




    Tilt-wall project experience strongly preferred.




    Knowledge of all major construction trades and industry best practices.




    Proficiency with Procore, MS Project, MS Teams, and Microsoft Office Suite.




    Valid Drivers License and ability to travel to project sites in the Raleigh area.




    Current OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR certifications (or ability to obtain).
