    SUMMARY

    The Service Engineering Manager is a support function of our LTSA/Service Operations groups. The overarching goal is to provide technical engineering services to enable Mitsubishi Power to be first in class large frame Gas Turbine service provider for Mitsubishi J, G, and F Frames, W501F, and other OEM as determined by the business. The Service Engineer Manager also provides technical engineering support for Mitsubishi Steam Turbines, GT and ST auxiliaries, and Generators. Support includes but is not limited to continuous improvement, root cause and corrective action activities, Engineering Support Requests (ESRs), Non-conformance Reports (NCRs), improve fleet reliability, availability, and maintainability to reduce long term costs.

    The position is intended to be a working manager, balancing technical engineering evaluations and leadership of the service engineering groups.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Primary Responsibilities:
    Manage a group of engineers, technicians, and interns to provide support to our LTSA and Service Operations business including timely disposition of technical issues through non-conformance reports dispositions and technical evaluations. Field service support coverage must be available 365 days per year. Participate in his/her team personnel development process, including (monthly/quarterly) check-in meetings, annual performance reviews. Lead the team's Tasking and Certification program: Prioritizing training/certification for his/her team members based on team performance regarding first time quality (FTQ) and on-time delivery to commitment date. Identifying and managing the personnel in their team to implement Certification program process, including administration of initial and recurring training of their team members. Create and assign tasks as directed/needed while ensuring assignments are completed with high level of quality and on time to commitment dates. Assume technical responsibility as an Engineering Manager per SOP-OPS-211 for technical activities Advocate for company/departmental initiatives Lead productivity and growth efforts based on initiatives Understand the impacts to business units for reliability, performance, and cost to make thorough engineering evaluations, outlining the risks/impacts for the business to evaluate. Work with LTSA Support group/Parts Planning and configuration engineering to identify service issues and recommend the latest part configurations. Where required, work with Mitsubishi Power's other factories such as Takasago, Hitachi City, Nagasaki, Yokohama, Savannah Machinery Works, etc. to communicate the need to alter designs and work to integrate new designs as quickly as possible to reduce business exposure. The engineering group is responsible for interfacing with Mitsubishi Power Japan Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine Service Engineering in Takasago to obtain the technical requirements to make field dispositions, and as necessary, to assist the Service Engineering group with technical evaluations and field investigations. Publish and Maintain a database where fleet risks can be identified to be used for parts planning, outage planning, and financial planning. Where possible, develop engineering mitigations of the risks. Support of evening or early morning calls with Japan is periodically required to resolve service issues quickly and communicate important findings. Ensure feedback of service issues to TGO Service and Design through the bi-weekly reliability call is performed. Interface with internal project, procurement, manufacturing, transportation and field service departments to achieve programs goals. Prepare customer communications for Incident Reports and Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine Bulletins where Mitsubishi Power has the lead product responsibility. Monitor the condition of parts being returned for service and optimize component design to address service issues. Develop staffing plans balancing staffing for long term internal growth with outsourcing services for specialized skills. Develop the technical skills of group members to support field outages.
    Secondary Responsibilities:
    Support technical leadership of industry meetings including insurance and lender meetings, user conferences, and industry conferences (PowerGen, ASME Turbo Expo, EPRI, etc.). Ensure fleet experience and feedback is incorporated into design reviews, design meetings, and communicated to the appropriate engineering design personnel. Support ISO 9001 audits and compliance efforts. Some overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air with some trips lasting two or more weeks.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

    Education and/or Experience:BS degree inengineering from an accredited college or university; knowledge of gas turbine and steam turbine engineering including overall turbine configuration, turbine design, boundary conditions, temperatures and materials. The preferred candidates will have experience with structural engineering of turbine components and experience with manufacturing processes used within Mitsubishi Power and vendor facilities. Management Skills: Candidate shall have demonstrated management and / or team leadership skills in short term critical path development programs. Language Skills:Ability to read and interpret documents such as industry reports and technical journals. Ability to write technical reports and correspondence including customer reports. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills:Ability to perform necessary calculations to satisfy job requirements. Reasoning Ability:Ability to make judgment decisions based on specifications or technical requirements. Computer Skills: advanced computer skills including finite element analysis, spreadsheets, SAP, SharePoint, CRM, Windchill, and general office software such as electronic mail, word processing, Power Point drawings, etc.

    Role Overview

    Control Systems Design Engineers are responsible for the design of control system enhancements, application studies to provide proposals to customers for those enhancements, implementation packages for those enhancements, and technical service support of electronic control systems used on Mitsubishi and non-OEM gas turbines. Control system service activities include evaluation of operating issues or enhancements, adjustment of turbine control settings, logic changes, and / or hardware modifications to the instrument and control system to improve operability and unit reliability of the gas turbines. The products supported include CPUs, data highways, software, and electronic devices (positioners, switches, routers, instruments, etc.). The Controls Design Engineer is an engineering position that requires knowledge of the engineering principles related to control and electrical systems and begins to develop experience in the application of these principles through training and work assignments. The engineer will also be given assignments of increasing technical difficulty while working under the supervision of more senior engineers or management.

    Key Responsibilities

    Support the evaluation and enhancement of control system operations with an increasing scope of responsibility. The Control Systems Design Engineer will perform routine work assignments with limited supervision and will actively work to increase product knowledge and skills;

    Role Overview

    The Senior Project Scheduler supports Project Management by providing detailed schedules reflecting the entire project cycle from development through execution and close as well as leveraging schedule software to provide new and innovative ways to monitor schedule progress, improve schedule accuracy, track/trend project controls, change order tracking and more. The Senior Project Scheduler is responsible for developing project templates with the project team and maintaining them within the database software. These templates will establish a controlled standard across the business and include views/filters/reports, such as critical path analysis or variance, allowing quick and effective decision making. These templates must also include resource and cost loading data. The database will house standard templates, alternate schedules, and project-specific schedules in an organized and controlled manner. Schedule updates during execution are necessary, and the scheduler may have to maintain several schedules at any given time for various projects in various stages. This includes adding/removing/altering variables based on the needs of a dynamic upgrade/maintenance event and working with the project team on project status, identifying opportunities for improvement, delays/recovery plans, and areas where additional concentration is required. The Senior Project Scheduler acts as the subject matter expert for the scheduling team and provides coaching and mentorship.

    Role Overview

    The Field Service Engineer II role is a mid-level field position that provides engineering support for both scheduled and emergent maintenance activities to customer power generation sites across the Americas. This position applies field service engineering techniques and procedures in the installation, modification, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of gas turbines, steam turbines, valves, generators, and associated auxiliary equipment. Individuals holding this role are fully dispatchable Field Service Engineers, which will require heavy domestic and international travel both during outage seasons and in support of customer meetings and other initiatives during the off-season.

    Lead and direct on-site work for the installation, repair, analysis, and operation of customer turbomachinery equipment, including gas and steam turbines, generators, exciters, and auxiliary systems.
    Serve as a floor engineer during minor and major turbine outages on OEM and non-OEM equipment, making component-level technical decisions based on established engineering practices.
    Plan, coordinate, and supervise outage maintenance activities, including directing supervisors, specialists, subcontractors, and assigning work to site personnel.
    Provide technical field expertise and turbine interface support to customers, management, engineers, and suppliers; resolve technical and scope-related issues.
    Interface directly with customer personnel to coordinate work execution, communicate progress, and ensure customer expectations are met.
    Interpret and apply drawings, work scopes, schedules, and technical documentation to support outage execution, change management, and closeout.
    Perform component-level outage planning, including vendor coordination, work package development, scheduling, and identification and tracking of extra work.
    Prepare, review, and submit accurate field service documentation and reports, including status updates, turnover packages, expense reports, and component-level outage reports.
    Provide on-the-job training, mentoring, and technical guidance to team members while supporting departmental and company objectives.
    Heavy overnight travel (at least 70%) by land and/or air.
    Able to work long hours for long periods of time.
    Requirements
