    We are now seeking a part-time Intern for the fall to join our Domestic Violence program in Community Outreach & Education with our DuPage Team!

    This is an unpaid internship for current college students needing the hours to complete a course or graduation requirements. This is one of three internship opportunities in the Domestic Violence Program at our DuPage Center.

    INTERN COMMUNITY OUTREACH & EDUCATION

    Support domestic violence community outreach and education efforts through prevention education in DuPage County and surrounding area schools.Assist in tabling and other community events with local organizations.Learn to promote the Bathroom Poster project and other outreach efforts.Opportunities to create educational social media content.Provide support for 40hr domestic violence training.Provide support for internal and external trainings facilitated by the Community Outreach and Education team.Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of MFS programs and community-based resources. May facilitate linkages with services both within MFS and in the community.Attends any mandatory group supervision and program/agency meetings.Completes paperwork in a timely manner, including Community Engagement Logs and other documentation tools specific to the program.Remains cognizant of current developments in the field of domestic violence. Attends appropriate workshops, conferences, etc. to enhance professional development and understanding of issues in the field.Establishes and maintains contact with local agencies, organizations, and partnering sites as appropriate; effectively and professionally represents Metropolitan Family Services and the domestic violence program in the community.Other duties specific to the needs of the particular site or program where this position is based.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Intern in a bachelor-level education, public health, psychology, sociology, or criminal justice program preferred. No clinical needs for internship.

    We are currently looking to fill a Community Schools Coordinator role at our Southeast office in Chicago.

    SALARY:

    The average starting salary for this position will fall in the range of $53,000 and $58,000 annually. Where candidates fall in this range will be based on skill and experience level.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Supervises Community School staff may include interns and volunteers; develops comprehensive trainings and participates in the hiring and termination process of program staff.Develops and implements a comprehensive training program.Manages all components of the Community School which includes out-of-school-time programs, adult services, family and community activities, recruitment and retention, and community development.Utilizes skills necessary to effectively address all levels of risk management, implementing a restorative approach when responding to behavioral problems in the Community School program.Conducts a comprehensive needs assessment plan of the school and community to ensure services provide a range of learning, are culturally competent, based in a restorative approach and meet the highest needs of the school and community.Plans and makes recommendations for the implementation of high-quality program activities that meet the mission and vision of the Community School values (pillars).Provide a range of learning.Facilitates Community School Advisory Board meetings, delegates tasks among members, and recruit members as needed.Shares responsibility with the Community School Advisory Board to ensure funder deliverables are met and agency and funder standards for out-of-school-time.Ensures that site-based reporting and program evaluation components are completed. This includes record-keeping, monitoring policies and procedures, evaluating program outcomes, and analyzing data to support recruitment and retention efforts.Provides direct service to youth and parents.Organize consumer and/or oversight committees.Seeks input from teachers, school staff, LSC members, parents, and students to determine ongoing needs of students and families.Negotiates agreements within the approved program with agencies and individuals who provide services.Secures appropriate agency approvals as necessary. At principal's request, and with agency approval, assumes responsibility for additional out-of-school-time programs.Assures that site-based reporting and evaluation components are completed.Manages all aspects of the Community School budget. Responsible for maintaining expenditures within budget, processing payment for Independent Contractors, making purchases for programs, updating budget tracking system weekly, and reviewing financial reports regularly.Makes purchases for program as necessary.Other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

    Demonstrated intermediate experience in Microsoft Suite, including excel.Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.Ability to work collaboratively with school personnel, agency staff, parents, and community partners.Available to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and some weekends.Ability to work in dual accountability, milieu-responsible to the agency and/but also to school administration.Access to mobility on regular basis required, an automobile with insurance coverage and a valid driver’s license may be required depending on location.Bilingual in Spanish and English required depending on location.Proficient in required computer programs such as Microsoft 365/Microsoft Office, including excel, required or the ability to learn within the first 3 months.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of total combined (work/volunteer/internship) experience in program development or program management, and working with children in an educational, activity, or social service program required.OR High School Diploma or GED required and 6+ years of total combined (work/volunteer/internship) experience in program development or program management,
    and working with children in an educational, activity, or social service program required.1+ year of supervisory or team lead experience preferred.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Peer Mentoring & Engagement: Build trusting, mutual relationships with veteran clients through appropriate self-disclosure of your own recovery journey. System Navigation: Assist veterans in accessing services within the CCBHC and externally through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), veteran service organizations, and community courts. Recovery Planning: Help veterans develop Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) and identify personal strengths to drive their treatment. Advocacy: Serve as a bridge between the veteran and the clinical team, ensuring the veteran's choices define their care process. Community Outreach: Partner with local veteran groups to educate the community on CCBHC services and facilitate "warm hand-offs" into care. Crisis Support: Utilize de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed care to support veterans during mental health crises or transitions from inpatient care. Documentation: Maintain accurate, HIPAA-compliant records of peer interactions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Provides information to clients and family members on mental illness, substance use, recovery and wellness, treatment options, and resources. Assists CCBHC clients and people the client/family identifies as their supports (with appropriate consent) e.g., significant others, parents, family, caregiver in their understanding the impact of mental health, substance use issues/symptoms and achieving the best possible outcomes for themselves/family member. Works collaboratively within a team to provide a full range of services including mental health, substance use/abuse, physical health, case management and other social determinants of health support. Spearheads community support interventions to facilitate illness self-management, skill building, identification and use of natural supports, and use of community resources. Reviews results of client assessments/screenings and symptom checklists and supports clients when needed to complete symptom checklists and screens. Conducts outreach and engagement for clients who may not be engaged in care or consistently miss appointments. Provides medication monitoring and/or training to clients. Participates in team meetings, huddles, and drop-in service time available to the team’s clients. Co-facilitates groups as requested. Assists team in identifying strengths and needs of clients. Supports clients when transitioning to another level of care. Maintains awareness of community resources and works to ensure service delivery maximizes available resources and services available within MFS and the community, as appropriate. Prioritizes activities in collaboration with the supervisor to optimize client service delivery and achieve performance expectations. Recognizes when to ask for help to maintain their own wellness plan. Maximizes opportunities to expand knowledge and skills, and utilizes techniques learned. Provides consultation to agency staff and the community, as needed, utilizing expert skills in training, conducting seminars, and working on special projects, as requested. May serve on agency-wide committees and work groups or on community committees, as approved by supervisor and agency leadership. Other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

    Peer/RSS must be an individual who is in recovery and has successfully navigated the MH and/or Substance Abuse system/s for his/herself and/or family member. Peer/RSS must have access to and is comfortable utilizing public transportation OR a valid driver’s license, access to a fully insured motor vehicle, proof of insurance and meet MFS driving record criteria. Peer/RSS must pass a State of Illinois background check, as required by MFS policy. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups. Positive attitude and self-motivation. Effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrated good judgment in maintaining responsibilities of the position in advocating for the best interest of consumers served. Must have basic computer skills.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Military Veteran Status: Required for this veteran-specific role. Personal experience with mental health or substance use recovery and a willingness to share this experience professionally. High school diploma or GED equivalent, required. Must hold or be willing to obtain Illinois Certified Veteran Support Specialist (CVSS) or CRSS certification within 6 months of hire, requiredUnderstanding of military culture and the unique challenges faced by veterans, including PTSD and moral injury. Minimum age of 21, valid Illinois driver’s license, and reliable transportation for community-based work. CCertified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or experience working with clients experiencing substance use, preferred.Training in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) or Whole Health Action Management (WHAM), preferred Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and motivational interviewing.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Performs comprehensive, in-depth assessment and clinical formulation, development of accurate diagnosis and strengths-based treatment plans for CCBHC services. Utilize the Illinois Medicaid Comprehensive Assessment of Needs and Strengths (IM+CANS) to document clinical needs and strengths. Uses ASAM Criteria to evaluate clients across six specific dimensions, including withdrawal potential, biomedical conditions, and recovery environment. Facilitates the development of initial and updated treatment plans in collaboration with the client and their support system. Uses standardized criteria (e.g., ASAM for addiction) to determine the appropriate intensity of services. Performs open access as assigned. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, including Peer Support Specialists and medical staff to ensure seamless transitions and "warm handoffs". Provides crisis intervention, and case management services, adhering to CCBHC and MRO/Medicaid rehabilitation service models. Provides therapeutic interventions, advocacy, skill-building, and related services. Provides evidence-based treatment interventions per training and certifications. Learns and utilizes agency and community resources. Assesses community conditions that affect clients to identify resource gaps and problems. Works with multidisciplinary professionals including psychiatrists, nurses and community agencies to provide a continuum of coordinated care to meet the complex needs of clients. May serve on regional or agency-wide committees. Meets agency expectation for quantity of direct service and maintains quality and fidelity to evidence-based practices. Maintains timely and accurate client records and any necessary agency and CCBHC required reporting. Participates in agency and site based required meetings and trainings. Works effectively with diverse staff and service population. Other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

    Demonstrated superior skills with families or communities. Demonstrated competence in consultation, teaching, or writing. Requires mobility to work in the community with assigned caseload. Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral science field. from an accredited college or university, required.Eligible or a Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), required. Must obtain and maintain IM+CANS certification, required. Must attend at least one training relative to the application of ASAM Criteria within the first six months of employment, required.Final salary will be determined based on years of experience, licensure level, and relevant credentials, required.2+ years of post-graduate social work experience at an intermediate skill level, preferred.     We are currently looking to fill a Certified Recovery Support Specialist role at our Merrionette Park Office.

    SALARY:

    The average starting salary for this position will fall in the range of $43,000 and $48,000 annually. Final salary will be determined based on years of experience, licensure level, and relevant credentials

    $2,500 Sign-on Bonus for first-time employees with MFS! ($1,250 on the first paycheck and $1,250 after 6 months of employment).

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Build trusting, mutual relationships with clients through appropriate self-disclosure of your own recovery journey. Assist clients in accessing services within the CCBHC and externally. Recovery Planning: Help clients develop Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) and identify personal strengths to drive their treatment. Provides information to clients and family members on mental illness, recovery and wellness, treatment options, and resources. Serve as a bridge between the client and the clinical team, ensuring the client's choices define their care process. Partner with local community-based organizations to educate the community on CCBHC services and facilitate "warm hand-offs" into care. Utilize de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed support with clients during mental health crises.Documentation: Maintain accurate, HIPAA-compliant records of peer interactions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.Assists CCBHC clients and people the client/family identifies as their supports (with appropriate consent) e.g., significant others, parents, family, caregiver in their understanding the impact of mental health issues/symptoms and achieving the best possible outcomes for themselves/family member. Works collaboratively within a team to provide a full range of services including mental health, substance use/abuse, physical health, case management and other social determinants of health support. Co-facilitates groups as requested. Provides medication monitoring and/or training to clients.Spearheads community support interventions to facilitate illness self-management, skill building, identification and use of natural supports, and use of community resources.Reviews results of client assessments/screenings and symptom checklists and supports clients when needed to complete symptom checklist.Works open access as assigned. Conducts outreach and engagement for clients who may not be engaged in care or consistently miss appointments. Participates in team meetings, and huddles. Assists team in identifying strengths and needs of clients. Supports clients when transitioning to another level of care. Maintains awareness of community resources and works to ensure service delivery maximizes available resources and services available within MFS and the community, as appropriate. Prioritizes activities in collaboration with the supervisor to optimize client service delivery and achieve performance expectations. Recognizes when to ask for help to maintain their own wellness plan. Maximizes opportunities to expand knowledge and skills, and utilizes techniques learned. Provides consultation to agency staff and the community, as needed, utilizing expert skills in training, conducting seminars, and working on special projects, as requested. May serve on agency-wide committees and work groups or on community committees, as approved by supervisor and agency leadership. Other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

    Peer/RSS must be an individual who is in recovery and has successfully navigated the MH and/or Substance Abuse system/s for his/herself and/or family member. Peer/RSS must have access to and is comfortable utilizing public transportation OR a valid driver’s license, access to a fully insured motor vehicle, proof of insurance and meet MFS driving record criteria. Peer/RSS must pass a State of Illinois background check, as required by MFS policy. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups. Positive attitude and self-motivation. Effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrated good judgment in maintaining responsibilities of the position in advocating for the best interest of consumers served. Must have basic computer skills

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    High school diploma, GED, or above, required.Personal experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery, required. Must hold or be eligible to obtain the Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credential from the Illinois Certification Board (ICB) within 12 months of hire, required.Final salary will be determined based on years of experience, licensure level, and relevant credentials.Bachelor’s Degree, preferred. Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or experience working with clients experiencing substance use, preferred. WRAP Facilitator, preferred.

    Satisfactorily pass all relevant screening and criminal background checks.

    TRANSPORTATION/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

    Driving for work required with transportation of clients preferred in a personally owned vehicle. No travel between sites

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Provides outreach and engagement services to assist in linkage to appropriate integrated services based on acuity level and/or response to a populating care task.Monitors IHPA population health management platform (HealthEC) to complete care tasks that populate for members and identify members with high utilization of ER visits and Hospital admissions so targeted interventions can be provided.Provides education and training to the MFS staff and other community providers (e.g. hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Centers, etc) regarding care coordination and its purpose, IHPA workflows and processes, etc.Monitors Admission Discharge Transfer (ADT) feed daily for IHPA members entering/discharging from an emergency room, inpatient hospitalization, or other coordinated care interface, following up with members at the ER and/or hospital, and facilitating post-discharge appointments.Documents the linkage and follow up care, as well as other vital information in both MFS electronic health record and IHPA platform after each contact and service.Participates as appropriate in IHPA member education including development of materials, conducting presentations, or supporting MFS staff in such efforts.Works with multidisciplinary professionals, including Managed Care Organization (MCO) Care Coordinators, to provide a continuum of coordinated care to meet the complex needs of members.Maintains timely and accurate client records and any necessary agency and IHPA required program reports.Participates in required MFS and IHPA trainings and meetings.Other duties as assigned.
