As an ER Tech at MercyOne supports the Emergency Department professional clinical staff by providing direct patient care, performing phlebotomy functions, EKGs and assistive skills on all age groups: neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric as assigned by the physician or RN. Position Purpose:
Supports the professional clinical staff by providing direct patient care and performing studies and tests as assigned. These duties may vary by shift or may be unit-specific. The Student Nurse - Patient Care Technician is responsible for providing care for patients of diverse ages.
What you wil Do:
Delivers assigned patient care and treatment as delegated by an RN or LPN.

Performs post-mortem care.

Sets up, operates, and maintains selected pieces of equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of 75-hour, 120-hour or 150-hour Certified Nursing Assistant program OR be listed as having passed CNA competency testing on the Iowa Direct Care Worker registry.
Graduate of an accredited RN or LPN program, certification as an EMT in the State of Iowa OR formally holding a medical occupational specialty from the military may be substituted for completion of CNA program and CNA Registry.
Must be 16 years of age.
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter - Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certified within six (6) weeks of hire.

National Certification in specialty required. Must complete a minimum of 16 hours emergency/trauma-related continuing education per year, certification, and clinical experience in care of the injured.
