    Nothing brings greater life satisfaction than helping others. As a Youth Care Worker, you will act as an advocate, role model and coach for the Youth who live in our residential programs. You can change the trajectory of their lives!

    As one of their primary support figures, you will work with others to assist the Youth at Mercy Home in re-establishing themselves in a secure environment that will empower them to pursue their goals with confidence. Together, we can cultivate positive relationships and engage in meaningful activities and interventions that will help Youth in need.

    In this Role, you will:
    Remain awake and aware of milieuPosition chair/ workstation in order to ensure a clear view of the youth bedrooms at all times.Conduct bedroom checks at a minimum of every 30 minutes, with visual sight of each youth to ensure their safety. Check on a more frequent basis (i.e. every 15 minutes) based on program needs or supervisor request.Log accurately and timely, in the program logbook, all bed checks as well as any other/ youth activityBe responsible for timely and accurate communication (e.g. incident reports, contact with Youths' families, log entries, e-mail, and contacts with on-call supervisor).Engage with youth in daily routines and activities.Build a therapeutic relationship with Youth and their familiesDevelop and implement each Youth's individual Treatment PlanWork collaboratively with School Resources, Career Resources and After-School Program co-workers to support Youth in those areasCommunicate timely and accurately (e.g. contact with Youths' families, log entries, incident reports, email, contact with on-call supervisor)Provide supportive supervision, guidance, and role modeling for the Youth, as well as engage with Youth in daily routines and activities in the milieuDevelop and support creative interventions for YouthParticipate in supervision meetingsWork with assigned advocate(s) including weekly Advocate meetings, as well as weekly family contactsEmploy all aspects of de-escalation and behavior management techniques as outlined in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) protocolProvide transportation for Youth and their family systems as necessaryLearn, align with, and execute the treatment philosophies, modalities, and practices of the Agency
    What we need from you:
    Be at least 21 years old High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.Ability to stay awake and alert during hours of rest for the Youth.At least two years of experience working with youthA valid Illinois driver's license (or ability to get one upon hire), ability to drive a van, maintain a clear driving record and retain driving approval through the Department of Children and Family ServicesGood interpersonal, oral, and written communication skillsMaturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differencesAbility to maintain confidentialityExperience with Microsoft Office, as well as the willingness to become proficient in other software packages and programsAbility to attend required Agency trainings and maintain necessary training complianceAbility to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and with proper training, physically restrain youthCommitment to the mission, values, and goals of the Agency
    Basics Information / Schedule Details

    This is a full-time position. The schedule is Monday-Thursday 10pm-8am

    Pay range is between $23.50-$24/hour

    How You'll Make an Impact:

    You will work in conjunction with the Director - Facilities & Security to insure proper maintenance of properties, building, and building equipment on the West Loop Campus, and to insure all inspections from outside regulating Agencies pass with no events or exceptions. To provide expertise on the day-to-day operations as they relate to electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs, carpentry work, and custodial functions; to gain a working knowledge of the building and building equipment at the Walsh Campus to serve as the backup to the Senior Maintenance Engineer in his absence. To gain a working knowledge of the technology used with the security cameras, security gates, fire alarm monitoring system, the residential temperature zone system, and the building automation systems to serve as the backup to the Director - Facilities & Security in his absence.

    In this Role, you will:
    • Maintain the agency's facilities, including the building equipment, in good and consistent working order.
    • Insure the facility has a clean and orderly aesthetic look.
    • Provide knowledge and expertise on the day-to-day operations as they relate to electrical, mechanical, plumbing and carpentry functions.
    • Assist and fill in for the Senior Maintenance Engineer at the Walsh Campus.
    • Supervise the cleaning contract workers and maintenance staff.
    • Insure proper preventative maintenance on building equipment and that all is in working order.
    • Perform basic electric, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and other repairs and use outside services when necessary.
    • Work with Director - Facilities & Security on obtaining competitive bids and meeting with contractors for project work and then overseeing that work.
    • Obtain a working knowledge of the security cameras, security gates, fire alarm monitoring system, the residential temperature zone system, and the building automation systems.
    • Utilize and maintain the Mainboss or similar system that houses the list of equipment and security related equipment owned by Mercy Home and which tracks the warranty information and maintenance of such equipment.
    • Be on-call for security related emergencies on the campuses, or arrange for other maintenance staff to be on-call.

    What we need from you:
    • High school diploma (or GED); college education and/or trade school diploma preferred.
    • General understanding of electricity, heating/cooling systems, ventilation, and plumbing.
    • At least 15 years of experience in the facilities maintenance and construction area.
    • Comfortable with technology used with security cameras and security gates.
    • Comfortable with technology used with monitoring systems, including that used for the fire alarm system, the residential temperature zone system, and the monitoring of the building automation systems.
    • Basic knowledge of safety codes and regulation.
    • Ability to work both independently and as an active team member.
    • Ability to manage a team.
    • Ability to lead and oversee projects.
    • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
    • Maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences.
    • Ability to maintain professional demeanor while exercising judgment and discretion in work.
    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
    • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to climb and descend stairs and ladders.
    • Ability to work while standing on a ladder.

    Salary: $90,000 to $110,000 Annually, Full-Time
