Product Development Manager

The Product Development Manager will be responsible for products within Sharper Image’s Wellness and Consumer Electronics categories.
What You’ll Do
Play a key role within the Product Development team by:
Working cross-functionally between the Design, Graphics, Marketing, Engineering, QA, Legal and Production Support teams to maintain deadlines and facilitate and drive new product developmentCreating, managing, and adhering to timelines for full life cycle of productsProviding creative and technical input into design and development of new products, with an eye toward product and user experience improvement, cost management, manufacturability, and reliabilityCreating product specifications to define framework for Design, Engineering, Creative, Marketing, and Asia teams and factoriesCreating instruction manual draftsCollecting and implementing changes from multiple sourcesManaging and tracking the prototype creation process, including timelines, budgeting, and approvalsReceiving, reviewing, and commenting on factory samples Communicating daily with Asia-based teams and factories via email and video callsWorking with the quality and compliance teams to resolve product-related issues and create safe, reliable products with high customer satisfactionSupporting the Sales team with samples and product informationWhat We’ll Expect You to Have
Passion for consumer productsBachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience5+ years experience in relevant consumer electronics and consumer goods product development5+ years experience working with overseas factories in ChinaEntrepreneurial instincts with clear bias for informed action and track record of leading new initiatives Good understanding of consumer product regulations, requirements, and testing processes, specifically those related to CE productsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsKnowledge in different substrates and their attributes as it relates to productionEngineering background is a plusPrior experience managing and/or training other Product Development team members is a plus.This is a hybrid position, Monday- Thursday in the Irvine, CA office, Fridays remote

About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Graphic Designer, Sharper Image to drive execution across physical retail touchpoints from concept through production.
Reporting to the Art Director, this role sits within a multidisciplinary design organization and focuses on bringing creative vision to life across packaging, retail POS, and in-store display.
Operating at the intersection of design and production, this role translates creative direction into high-quality, production-ready deliverables that meet both brand and commercial objectives.
This role is suited for a designer with strong craft and technical expertise in print and packaging — someone who thrives in execution, understands production realities, and ensures design integrity from concept through shelf.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Execution (Hands-On)
Execute packaging, retail POS, and in-store display from concept through productionTranslate creative direction into clear, compelling, and production-ready design solutionsExplore concepts from incremental to breakthrough, pushing creative boundaries while maintaining commercial impactDevelop layouts, typography, color systems, and graphic assets across product linesCreate and refine packaging graphics, die lines, and structural artwork integrationEnsure accuracy, consistency, and quality across all physical deliverablesPrepare, organize, and finalize print-ready files with strong attention to technical requirementsProject Ownership & Collaboration

Required
8–12+ years of professional design experience within CPG, consumer electronics, or retail-focused environmentsBA/BS in Graphic Design, Fine Art, or related fieldStrong portfolio demonstrating excellence in packaging, retail displays, and physical product graphicsDeep understanding of packaging production, print processes, die lines, materials, and file preparation for manufacturingExceptional eye for typography, layout, color, and visual hierarchy with a high level of craftExperience creating, interpreting, and applying brand style guides across physical products and packaging systemsAbility to translate creative direction into polished, production-ready workStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyProficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)Preferred
