The Senior Director, Marketing – Strategy New Product Development (NPD) will lead upstream marketing strategy and innovation pipeline development for the business. This role is responsible for identifying unmet clinical needs, shaping product concepts, and translating market insights into differentiated product strategies that drive long-term growth. The leader of this group will work cross-functionally with R D, Clinical, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to guide new product development from concept through development milestones while ensuring alignment with portfolio strategy and enterprise priorities. Key Responsibilities Lead long-term portfolio strategy, identifying growth opportunities, emerging technologies, and competitive dynamics. Drive upstream marketing activities including market assessment, voice-of-customer insights, and unmet clinical need identification. Define product concepts, value propositions, and target product profiles to guide product development programs. Partner with R D leadership to shape and prioritize the innovation pipeline and ensure alignment with strategic priorities. Lead development of business cases, financial models, and strategic recommendations for new product investments. Provide strategic oversight for product development programs from concept through development phases. Collaborate with downstream marketing and commercialization teams to ensure successful transition from development to launch planning. Present portfolio strategy, innovation initiatives, and program updates to senior leadership. Build and develop a high-performing upstream marketing team and foster a culture of innovation and customer focus. Must Have: Minimum Requirements Requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with 10+ years of managerial experience (people or program), or advanced degree with a minimum 13 years prior relevant experience, minimum 10 years of managerial experience (people or program). Nice to Have MBA or advanced degree. Experience leading upstream marketing or innovation programs within medical technology. Demonstrated success developing product strategies and guiding products through development processes. Strong understanding of healthcare markets, clinical environments, and regulatory considerations. Ability to travel as necessary to conduct business, attend meetings and conferences. Experience working in highly matrixed, global organizations. Strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and executive communication skills. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. At Medtronic, the Associates Clinical Specialist supports the Pelvic Health groups in the areas of surgical coverage, follow-up, support, troubleshooting, customer service and education within a territory. Represents Medtronic Pelvic Health during surgeries and implants by providing all necessary equipment and products required for the implant, demonstrates expertise in all aspects of implant, follow-up support and troubleshooting techniques (such as proper device selection, appropriate programming, correct implantation and testing of all device systems). Maintains current knowledge about assigned products and services as well as competitive products. For new and existing accounts, this position is able to proactively identify needs and teach a broader level of caregivers and account employees. Educates and trains physicians, hospital personnel and office staff on technical matters relating to our products and therapies. This is achieved by coordinating: one on one sessions, in service education programs, seminars and/or outside symposiums.
