The Department of Neurology at MedStar Franklin Square hosts a strategic hospital and ambulatory clinic for delivery of care in the Neurosciences. The hospital was recently accredited as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and re-accredited as an ANCC Magnet-Designated Hospital. Over the past four years in the inpatient setting, we have created a dedicated Neuro-ICU, Neurovascular, and Vascular Neurosurgical group. Our Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, and Neuromuscular Divisions continue to grow, becoming ABRET-accredited, beginning a multi-disciplinary clinic for Huntington s Disease, a functional Neurosurgical program, and a multi-disciplinary ALS clinic.

This leadership role offers a unique opportunity to shape and execute the vision for cancer care, clinical research, and medical education at a premier referral center serving a diverse population across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
As a leader in comprehensive cancer care, the Institute is affiliated with the only NCI-designated cancer center in Washington, D.C. The Section Director will work clinically at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, a 912-bed academic medical center, and will benefit from strong support including advanced practice providers, research staff, and administrative resources. This position is dedicated to providing cardiovascular expertise for the high-volume Solid Organ Transplant Program at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, which includes liver, kidney, pancreas, and other solid organ transplants. The program is one of the largest and most respected in the country, serving as a major referral center for complex cases.
The successful candidate will:
Provide comprehensive cardiovascular care for solid organ (kidney, liver, etc.) transplant candidates and recipients, including pre-transplant evaluation, perioperative management, and long-term post-transplant follow-up. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary transplant team of hepatologists, nephrologists, anesthesiologists, surgeons, intensivists, and other specialists.Serve as a key liaison between cardiology and transplant services, ensuring optimal outcomes in a complex, high-acuity patient population. Care for clinical cardiology patients, participate in the inpatient cardiology service, and read cardiac imaging studies (e.g. echocardiography).Diagnostic catheterization competency is optional (opportunities available) Participate actively in teaching and mentorship of residents, fellows, and students. Engage in clinical research and scholarly activity related to transplant cardiology, with access to institutional support through the MedStar Health Research Institute.Qualifications
