SUMMARY
Provides direct patient care including the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and injuries. As a recognized patient-centered medical home (PCMH), every employee is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of quality, comprehensive patient-centered care as a member of the patients care team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to, the following)
Elicits and records information about patient's medical history utilizing the established electronic medical record software systemOrders, oversees and interprets various tests, analyses and diagnostic imagesMakes diagnosis and prescribes care, treatment, and medications for patient conditionPerforms specific minor outpatient surgeries and proceduresDocuments patient charts in a timely and appropriate mannerAdheres to all established quality protocolsRefers patients to medical specialists or other practitioner for specialized treatmentAdvises patients concerning diet, hygiene, lifestyle modification and methods for prevention of diseaseHospitalizes and treats patients in local hospitals, if requiredSupervises clinical components at siteAssists with medical in-service training for staffProvides back-up coverage for other MedLink sitesServes on appropriate organization committees and teamsParticipates in community health promotion projectsPursues activities of community involvement to increase awareness of and insure the positive image of MedLink Georgia and the medical center to which (s)he is assignedAttends local medical conferences and meetingsParticipates in the corporation's Quality Assurance Program and adheres to all established quality protocolsOther duties as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Physicians: Graduation from an approved school of medicine and internship AND completion of an approved residency program and eligible for board certification.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of approved Physician Assistant program AND completion of preceptorship in primary care
Nurse Practitioner: Graduate of approved Nurse Practitioner program AND completion of preceptorship in primary care
NOGAPP Residency Program Application for East Georgia Health Center
North Georgia Advanced Practice Program Residency is an accredited one-year residency, full-time employment commitment, that provides new family nurse practitioners (FNPs) with a structured clinical experience to enhance the transition into practice.
North Georgia Advanced Practice Program residents receive experience in both adult and pediatric primary care, as well as women's health, behavioral health, and substance abuse services.
In addition to experiencing diverse clinical settings and patients, specially developed learning modules are provided to help enhance clinical reasoning, motivational interviewing, management of opioid use disorders, and many other topics of relevance to practice in these communities. Time is also built into the residents' schedules to participate in case conferences and quality improvement activities. At the end of the residency, FNPs will be fully productive members of the interprofessional care team, managing their patients and time with confidence and competence. There is also the option to apply for loan forgiveness at the conclusion of the residency year.
During the residency, you will have 3 days working hands-on with patients in your home clinic. Two days will be for didactics and specialty rotations.
*Hours during residency are 8am-5pm from Monday through Friday.*
Requirements Prior to Program Start Date:
National Board Certification required for FNP prior to start of residency program.
