    Leigh Orthopedic Surgery Center is offering an excellent part-time opportunity for a Sterile Processing (SPD) Technician to join the team at our successful ASC in the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area. 

    Summary: The Sterile Processing Tech works to maintain the cleanliness, functionality, and inventory of the instruments, equipment, and re-usable medical supplies according to nationally recognized standards, regulations, and center policies to ensure safe, quality patient care.

    Duties include, but are not limited to:

    Demonstrates knowledge of the decontamination, cleaning, prepping, and sterilization of surgical instruments, re-usable supplies, and equipment.Demonstrates knowledge of cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization equipment and its use in the decontamination / sterile processing area.Demonstrates knowledge of the SPD department duties including:Understanding the use and handling of chemicals used in the SP areaCommitment to following the recommended instructions for decontaminating, cleaning, sonification, drying, flushing, sterilizing, etc. items in the SP areaUse of appropriate biological and chemical monitoring with documentation of suchrotating of processed instrumentsinspection of said itemsDemonstrates a commitment to follow "Instructions For Use" (IFU) information from manufacturers' related to all items that flow through the SP area.Monitor the surgical schedule to anticipate instrumentation, equipment, re-usable medical supply needs.Remove defective items from service and replace missing items, and alert other parties in a timely manner when items are missing.Maintains appropriate tray lists and inventory stockMaintains accurate, detailed, documentation.Pursues additional knowledge and training to remain current on standards and regulations relating to the sterile processing area.Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, center/service safety, and specific job related hazards.Follows the center exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a center team to facilitate the center's ability to meet its goals and objectives.Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned 

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED)One-Year certificate from college or technical school; or 3+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experienceCPR certification requiredCertified Sterile Processing Technician preferredASC experience preferred

     

    The starting hourly rate for this position is $23.00, with the final offer dependent on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.  

    No nights, no "call",  no weekends, no holidays.

    Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee Surgery Center is seeking a Full Time Certified Sterile Processing Technician. This position works to maintain the cleanliness, functionality, and inventory of the instruments, equipment, and medical supplies according to nationally recognized standards, regulations, and center policies to ensure safe, quality, patient care.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Performs all aspects of daily work in a manner which contributes to and ensures an environment of patient safety.Assists and instructs in the supervision of specialized technical skills requirements and work performance in the specific module.Is responsible for the orientation of all new personnel in his/her module.Works with the manager in developing quality monitors and in-service programsPerforms all reprocessing tasks following established hospital, department and manufacturer protocols and policies.Insures proper operation of all sterilizing units prior to use on a daily basis.Runs biological and chemical tests appropriately. Records results in appropriate log.Inspects steam autoclaves for visible signs of malfunction and reports to Central Sterilizing Lead/ OR Supervisor.Processes and oversees all contaminated instruments and supplies returned to Central SterilizingUses knowledge of sterilization principles to correctly wrap or package items for sterilizationProcesses all items appropriately using steam sterilization or STERIS process Maintains appropriate spore testing on routine basis and documents results as required.Maintains a clean and organized work area

    Educations and Certification Requirements:
