    Position Overview

    The Optometric Technician plays a key role in supporting the optometrist by performing preliminary testing, preparing patients for exams, and ensuring smooth clinic flow. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-volume setting and enjoys working directly with patients.


    Key Responsibilities

    Greet and escort patients to exam rooms in a friendly and professional mannerPerform pre-testing procedures including:Visual acuityAuto-refractionTonometry (IOP)Retinal imaging (OCT, fundus photography)Visual field testingAccurately document patient history and chief complaintsPrepare exam rooms and maintain cleanliness and organizationAssist the optometrist during exams as neededEducate patients on procedures and basic eye care instructionsManage patient flow to ensure efficiency and minimal wait timesSupport front desk or optical team when needed
    Qualifications

    Prior experience in optometry or ophthalmology preferred (but willing to train the right candidate)Strong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to multitask in a high-volume environmentDetail-oriented with strong organizational skillsBasic computer proficiency (EHR experience a plus)Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
    Preferred Skills

    Experience with EHR systemsKnowledge of medical terminology and vision insuranceFamiliarity with diagnostic equipment (OCT, autorefractor, visual field)

    Position Overview

    The Optician plays a critical role in the patient experience by guiding patients through frame selection, lens options, and final fittings. This position combines technical expertise with strong sales skills and requires someone who thrives in a high-volume environment while delivering personalized service.


    Key Responsibilities

    Assist patients in selecting frames that fit their style, needs, and prescriptionEducate patients on lens options (progressives, anti-reflective, blue light, etc.)Interpret prescriptions and recommend appropriate lens solutionsAccurately measure PD, segment height, and ensure proper fitAdjust and dispense eyewear for optimal comfort and visionProcess optical orders and ensure accuracyVerify and explain vision insurance benefitsMeet or exceed optical sales goalsTroubleshoot and resolve patient concerns professionallyMaintain cleanliness and organization of the optical showroom
    Qualifications

    Previous optician or optical sales experience preferred but not requiredStrong sales and customer service skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesDetail-oriented with strong technical aptitudeAbility to multitask in a high-volume settingPositive, team-oriented attitude
    Preferred Skills

    Experience with vision insurance plans and billingFamiliarity with optical software/EHR systemsKnowledge of current eyewear trends and brands
