MBP is looking for a Senior Bridge Construction Inspector to join our team. We seek candidates with significant experience in bridge and roadway construction inspection, advanced knowledge of engineering technology, and a history of progressive career development. Responsibilities What You'll Do: As a Senior Bridge Construction Inspector, you will oversee the inspection of bridge construction activities, including pile driving, steel installation, deck concrete placement, and more. You will verify construction work meets contract plans and specifications, provide quality assurance, and manage project documentation and reporting. Responsibilities include: Represents the client on-site, providing quality assurance, documentation, cost control, and time management-related services. Performs field checks of all "red-line" as-built plans to assure completeness of the plans. Performs on-site compliance inspection, quality assurance, and progress monitoring, and payment application review for conformance to specifications and codes. Coordinates, monitors, and manages inspection activities on project(s). Verifies that construction is completed in accordance with contract plans and specifications, approved shop drawings, approved material lists, and permit requirements. Communicates effectively with agency, contractors, and MBP personnel. Performs final inspection, prepares punchlist, and verifies all items on the punchlist are completed or corrected by the contractor. Maintains and reviews comprehensive project records, including daily diaries, documentation of construction workforce, equipment, and materials records, inspection reports, project photos, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders, and monthly payment estimates. Oversees and tracks submittals and requests for information. Maintains project correspondence. Assists with schedule reviews for project progress and schedule accuracy. Conducts and documents meetings such as pre-construction and Progress Meetings. Prepares weekly and monthly reports for ongoing project progress. Inspects all phases of work on a project and advises the contractor, superintendent, or other representatives of necessary action to verify conformance with plans, specifications, and the contract. Responsible for rejection of non-compliant work and payment of completed work as delegated by the Project Owner. Performs advanced duties of the Construction Inspector II. Provides customer services and good etiquette to the traveling public, adjacent property owners, and other project stakeholders. Performs various administrative duties, including but not limited to daily timesheet, monthly expense report, and monthly mileage report. May be required to initiate claims avoidance processes and coordinate with client, contractors, other agencies, and MBP personnel. May be required to independently adapt and implement changes to standard construction practices and procedures to meet field conditions. May receive intermittent assignments to inspect critical phases of complex projects. Support analytical assignments, which may include constructability review, cost estimating, CPM, and claims. Obtains advanced training and certifications. Must also maintain certifications required to inspect the work for which the Construction Inspector II is responsible for monitoring. Qualifications Who We Are Looking For Experience: Significant years of experience in roadway and bridge transportation projects. Advanced knowledge and expertise in inspection of bridge construction activities, including pile driving, center of gravity calculations, structural steel installation, calculation of bolsters, inspection of reinforcing steel, dry run inspections for bridge deck concrete placement, and inspection of placement of deck concrete. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of engineering technology and project management. Demonstrated inspection and management experience with roadway and/or bridge construction. Experience in coordinating inspection duties with multiple simultaneously operating crews. Experience tracking daily quantities, completing daily inspection reports, performing monthly estimates, and as-built drawings. Evidence of progressive career development. Education/Knowledge: High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), some technical school. Developed advanced knowledge of engineering technology, project management, or construction materials. Working knowledge of basic mathematics, including computations based on field measurements. Considerable construction-related training (i.e., coursework in road/bridge, construction, civil engineering, project management, or materials testing), or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job.
