Position Summary
Mayer Fabrics is seeking a dependable, team-oriented Warehouse Associate to support our daily warehouse operations. This hands-on role performs a variety of responsibilities across multiple departments, including Order Fulfillment, Receiving, and Shipping. The ideal candidate is flexible, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where teamwork and accuracy are essential.
This position rotates between departments as business needs dictate, helping ensure operational efficiency and continuity during periods of high volume.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Order Fulfillment
Verify fabric patterns and colors by cross-referencing paperwork and product tagsInspect fabric for flaws and ensure all materials meet quality standardsApply allowances as necessary and accurately prepare yardage ordersOperate cutting equipment safely and efficientlyMaintain organized fabric inventory areas and workspacesCoordinate with Customer Service to ensure orders are completed accuratelyAssist walk-in customers as neededCommunicate inventory concerns to the Warehouse ManagerParticipate in physical inventory counts and assist with departmental projects during downtime
Receiving
Receive and inspect incoming products, materials, and suppliesCoordinate with Customer Service, Purchasing, and other departments regarding inbound shipmentsMatch shipments to purchase orders and document discrepanciesUpdate inventory records and verify new products against master color standardsPerform quality checks for quantity, color consistency, bow, skew, and overall product conditionReport discrepancies and quality concerns to the Receiving Team LeadAssist walk-in customers as needed
Shipping
Prepare and manage shipping documentation, including pick tickets, packing slips, and bills of ladingPackage shipments and ensure all required documentation is includedVerify order accuracy, shipping methods, and shipping addressesCoordinate with Customer Service, Purchasing, and other departments regarding outbound ordersMaintain an organized and efficient shipping area while meeting daily shipping deadlines
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious warehouse, shipping, receiving, manufacturing, or distribution experience preferredAbility to multitask and adapt to changing prioritiesStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracyBasic computer skills and ability to learn warehouse management systems and shipping softwareAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentStrong communication and problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workdayAbility to regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 80 poundsAbility to safely operate warehouse equipment and work in a fast-paced warehouse environment
