Primary Qualifications:
Must show a proven track record of success in sales. Experience in the fitness industry a plus but not required. We need individuals that can follow our proven sales system. Those that do not do well in our company culture are the mavericks, lone rangers, renegades and basically anyone who does not work well with the team.

The General Manager is accountable for the daily, monthly and yearly financial performance of the club while driving revenue and managing expenses. Ensure the club is meeting or exceeding the daily, monthly and yearly membership forecast. Oversees the Fitness Manager and Fitness Classes to ensure that the Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) are met.
Works in collaboration with the personal training department to ensure the club is meeting or exceeding the daily, monthly and yearly personal training forecast. Ensures that the ancillary departments are achieving or exceeding revenue targets by providing the guidance and direction the team needs to effectively hit these goals.
Prepare the club's success on a daily basis by putting a plan and effectively communicating that plan to the team on how to reach the daily goals.
Understands the company's core values and overall culture of the business, leading by example and holding all employees accountable and holding to the club standards. Works closely with the corporate team on making the decision to hire all sales and training staff at the club.
Arranges meetings with underperforming staff to provide a coaching session and a progress improvement plan. Meets with the Fitness Manager daily to strategize on how to get the personal training department to goal. Takes the time to coach and teach the Fitness Manager and staff.
Meets with the personal trainers on a daily basis to make a plan on how each individual trainer is going to get to goal each month. Takes that time to coach and teach how that trainer will be successful.
Attends monthly management meetings with corporate staff to present their club's performance and overview of the current club status. Conducts monthly reviews of the employees. Personally conducts or appoints staff members to walk through of their club hourly to ensure that the equipment, locker rooms and overall facility maintenance are meeting the standards.

Required Skills and Experience
Fitness club management experience preferred Physical demands include ability to regularly walk through all areas of the club, climbing stairs (where applicable), and bending and lifting (restacking of weights, moving of equipment as necessary)Must be able to work at least 48 hours per week, or other hours necessitated by business needs. Interviewing, hiring, training, and terminating as it relates to Personal Trainers. Some of this will probably be done in conjunction with the club GM, however, the direct supervision of the PTs the direct responsibility of the DOF.
Team Performance:
The DOF is responsible for ensuring that all PT Department team members are adhering to PT protocol, correcting and coaching when necessary. In addition to providing ongoing motivation and encouragement, the DOF must monitor closing percentages and sales to ensure that the department is on track to achieving or surpassing its goals and substitute PTs as needed.
Scheduling:
The Director of Fitness is responsible for ensuring that all PT Departments are scheduled sufficiently to meet demand. At times the DOF may be required to deviate from their regular schedule in order to accommodate any unexpected situation. Typically, successful PT programs are constantly adding team members as the program grows which means scheduling is typically fluid.
Administrative:
The Personal Training Program is a multi-layered program that requires continuous and ongoing monitoring. The DOF will be responsible for learning all aspects of the reporting as they pertain to the Personal Trainers. General Gym Membership drives the entire process therefore communication between the DOF and GM is essential for success. The DOF will learn the reporting from the GM and will have unlimited support in all areas of operation. The DOF will be responsible for all functions as it relates to the Personal Training Program software (DataTrak) and provide any data the GM needs to reconcile the daily, weekly, and monthly club reports.
Payroll:
The Director of Fitness is responsible for ensuring that the Trainer payroll is provided every Monday to the GM to be processed. Prior to providing this information, DOF verifies that all aspects related to PT's session counts are audited for accuracy. This is a very easy and repetitive process especially when transactions are monitored (and corrected) on a regular basis.
Member Interaction:
Since the fitness industry is a service business the relationship and interaction between members and our staff mean everything. The DOF is expected to interact with our membership to ensure their satisfaction with our team and programs. Some of this will be done informally while other avenues may include digital member surveys.
Miscellaneous:
Because the Personal Training Program has many tasks that will need to be accomplished we expect the DOF to either assist with or take the lead with them. Examples of this would be assisting with program marketing, producing trainer biographies, and assisting the GM and other staff where needed. As part of our management team, we expect the DOF to lead by example and assist wherever needed.
Secondary responsibilities:
Act in the best interest of the overall club operations and help out wherever needed to keep a happy client base. Some duties may include, club walk-throughs checking on equipment and facility conditions, Touring guests and selling general gym memberships in all downtime, and helping at the front desk.
Schedule:
Director of Fitness (DOF) Role Hours - Split Shifts (Monday to Thursday: 9am -12:30pm then 3pm to 7pm), Friday 9am to 1:30pm
PT Hours: Schedule up to 20, ½ hour sessions with clients outside of DOF hours and responsibilities.
Compensation
Salary: The hours you devote exclusively to your role as Director of Fitness will fluctuate and will be determined by the needs of the program at any given time. For a general guideline, we envision that needs to be in the 30 - 35 hour per week timeframe.
Commissions and Bonuses: achieving sales goals drive successful programs and the Personal Training Program is no different. The DOF position is performance-based. The more you sell, the more you make.
** Programs and commission structures are subject to be adjusted from time to time-based on facility needs and performance.
