Material Sciences Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for our Elk Grove facility. This position is responsible for maintaining, servicing, repairing, rebuilding, and recommending enhancements for existing machinery and support equipment. The role involves both mechanical and electrical work, including assembly, installation, and troubleshooting of equipment components. The Maintenance Technician works in a self-directed team environment under the general supervision of the Maintenance Lead Person, Maintenance Manager, or Production Supervisor. May use computers, small hand tools, welders, torches, mechanical and electrical testing and measuring equipment, lathe, drill press, grinders, portable power tools, pipe fitting and plumbing tools, etc.
Shifts: 12 hours Monday- Saturday
Pay: $31.00 - $35.00 per hour
Pay Structure: First 8 hours paid at regular hourly rate, remaining 4 hours per shift paid as overtime, after 40 hours paid as overtime.
POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Studies and interprets construction, mechanical or electrical blueprints, drawings, sketches and manufacturer manuals to install new equipment, modify existing equipment, or troubleshoot mechanical or electrical problems; plans and determines working procedures, tool and material requirements, and maintains equipment files and service documentation.Corrects defective mechanical devices and other equipment by disassembling, installing new parts, welding or re-fitting; may have to contact manufacturer or distributor, and/or direct contracted or outside service personnel.Uses electric and acetylene welding equipment in making repairs, welds various types of metals.Installs air, water, and gas lines: repairs and maintains plumbing.Repairs and maintains lift trucks and various pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.Troubleshoots and repairs basic AC and DC motor control systems.Obtains work assignments, work order, and instructions from Maintenance Lead Person, Maintenance Manager, or Production SupervisorMay serve as a Roll Grinder.Responsible for housekeeping in shop area and work sites.Actively participates in quality improvement process.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
Minimum High School graduate or equivalent. Additional technical education and Certified Journeyman preferred.Minimum 3 years of Maintenance Mechanic experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, preferably in the metal coil coating industry.Must be able to work 2nd or 3rd shifts.Must be able to interpret blueprints and sketches.Must be able to operate machine shop tools proficiently.Must be proficient in brazing, cutting and all position acetylene and arc welding including high pressure hydraulic pipe welding.Must be capable of routing black pipe and hydraulic tubing.Must be skilled in electrical, hydraulic and mechanical troubleshooting and repair.Must have working knowledge of HVAC systems.Industrial Electrical experience highly preferredPhysical Demands:
Frequent bending, reaching, climbing.Heavy physical effort (up to 50 lbs).Frequent standing and walking.Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of various items.

Position Summary
The General Associate performs a variety of general labor, maintenance support, material handling, housekeeping, and warehouse duties to support daily plant operations. This position works throughout the facility and grounds to ensure equipment, materials, and work areas are maintained in a safe, clean, and efficient manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform general labor and handyman tasks throughout the plant and facility grounds.Use hand tools, power tools, equipment, and materials to complete assigned work safely and efficiently.Stock, replenish, organize, and distribute production materials and maintenance supplies.Perform material handling, weighing, packaging, sampling, and staging of materials.Clean machinery, equipment, tools, and work areas to maintain safe and efficient operations.Perform minor preventive maintenance and basic equipment repairs as assigned.Assist the Maintenance Department with equipment repairs, installations, and modifications under the direction of maintenance personnel.Tighten bolts, joints, and fittings and assist with the removal and replacement of elbows, braces, frames, unions, piping, and structural components.Cut pipe and structural steel using appropriate tools and equipment.Lubricate equipment and perform routine maintenance tasks.Replace light bulbs, pull wire, and assist with electrical and mechanical maintenance projects as directed.Clean machine parts, rolls, bearings, and other equipment components during maintenance activities.Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments of coils, raw materials, supplies, and finished goods.Maintain inventory of supplies and submit replenishment requests as needed.Maintain workplace organization and cleanliness through routine housekeeping and 5S practices.Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, quality standards, and standard operating procedures.Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations.Qualifications

Position Summary The Production Utility Operator provides support across coating and laminating operations by assisting with machine setups, material handling, and general production activities. This position plays a key role in maintaining efficient workflow by supporting production crews and filling operational needs as required. The employee will be cross-trained in multiple coating line positions to provide coverage for temporary vacancies and production demands.
The Production Utility Operator works under the direct supervision of the assigned Crew Chief and receives work assignments exclusively from the Production Supervisor or their designated representative. The position may require the use of various hand tools and equipment specific to assigned tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist production line operations with activities as directed by the supervisor, including but not limited to:Laminating operationsInterleaving processesCoating line setup and cleanupCore cuttingMaterial handlingOther production support functions as requiredParticipate in cross-training across various production positions to develop operational flexibility and provide coverage for temporary staffing needs.Safely operate tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned duties.Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures while maintaining productivity standards.Additional Responsibilities
