Job Summary The OHE Lineman A assists Journeyman Lineman and the Foreman while in training and learning the trade. Responsible for performing diversified work related to the construction and maintenance of poles, power lines, auxiliary facilities, and equipment for the distribution of electricity. Sets a good example for newer apprentices by always following and teaching safe practices. This position supports the Line team and works with other personnel from the department. Responsibilities Construct, maintain, and inspect transmission and distribution of electrical or power lines. Provide technical skills needed for the operation and maintenance of reliable electrical services for the consumer, completing jobs with quality and timeliness. Provide for connecting and disconnecting, installing and removal, moving and transferring of various electrical devices on customer facilities, i.e. transformers, transformer banks, regulators, switches, switching devices, capacitor banks, etc. Route or reroute power lines over, under, or around existing lines and structures. Inspect and/or remove power lines that are damaged. Assist in carrying poles, digging holes, and other such operations involved in setting or replacing poles. Perform line switching or sectionalizing, as directed. Assist in on-the-job training of apprentices and other crew members in maintenance and construction of power lines. Responsible for timely submission of all Apprentice Program required documentation. May troubleshoot electrical problems on customer equipment. Drive bucket truck to jobsite and maintain truck stock. Investigate consumer complaints and make repairs to energized electrical distribution lines, as needed. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.     POSITION PURPOSE:

     

    The Fiber Installation Technician is responsible for installing, modifying, repairing, and disconnecting cable services, including video, data, and telephone. This role performs hands on field work involving the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic and coaxial cable systems and related equipment. In certain service areas, the technician will support dual platform environments requiring knowledge and use of both coaxial and fiber technologies. All work must be performed in accordance with established safety policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    Install, splice, and terminate fiber-optic cables and connectors in both indoor and outdoor settings. Ensure proper routing and organization of cables to meet industry standards.Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance checks to verify the functionality and performance of the installed fiber optic connections. Identify and resolve issues as needed.Perform routine maintenance and repair activities on fiber-optic equipment and network infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted service. Respond to service outages promptly and restore connectivity.Maintain detailed records of installations, repairs, and equipment used. Generate accurate reports on work completed and document network configurations.Interact with customers in a professional and customer-focused manner. Address their inquiries, explain service options, and provide technical support when required.Maintain safe work environment by following safe practices and adhering to safety policies.     WORKING CONDITIONS:

     

    Requires ability to travel and drive to job sites daily. Must have, prior to, and throughout employment, an acceptable background and current, valid driver’s license to commute to customer homes.

Produce and review detailed design documentation including utility design systems, line layout/routing, overhead and underground distribution, and identification of conflicting utilities. Review and apply applicable industry record and document pole data, measurements, and other relevant conditions. Prepare documentation and work order construction prints. Field check design layouts and provide technical support for construction, including participation in construction planning, execution, quality control, and completion of the work. Coordinate and attend design reviews of distribution projects with utility customers. Maintain project records for assigned work, package records per contract requirements and facilitate turnover to the client's representative. Responsible for ongoing communication and timely identification of issues to the PM/Lead and pending or actual changes to the work performed that may impact costs, schedule, contract, or customer relationship.
