Job Description
A State of Wisconsin client is seeking a highly experienced Senior .NET Web Developer to support multiple high-profile web application initiatives within the Child Care and Child Welfare (CCCW) division. This role is restricted to Wisconsin-based candidates or those willing to relocate to Wisconsin within 30 days of the start date. All work must be performed within the state of Wisconsin.
The developer will work on modernization efforts that include an enterprise-wide migration to a unified authentication platform using Okta, development of .NET MVC and .NET 8 applications, and enhancements to existing applications built with C#, JavaScript, and Kendo UI. This position requires extensive hands-on full-stack development experience, strong understanding of OIDC authentication, secure API development, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an established team.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to high-quality code through TDD, code reviews, and best development practices. Prior experience with Wisconsin state systems, including CARES and Child Care applications, is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development
Design, develop, test, and deploy secure web applications using .NET MVC, C#, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
Implement and maintain OIDC-based authentication and Okta identity integrations.
Build and support APIs leveraging WebAPI and n-tier architecture.
Modernize legacy mainframe applications and support migration activities.
Participate in code reviews, team collaboration, and TDD-based development.
Technical Analysis & SDLC
Conduct requirements analysis and document detailed technical specifications.
Design data structures and create custom SQL for SQL Server, DB2, and Oracle databases.
Provide production support, diagnose issues, and resolve system defects.
Follow full SDLC practices and standard project management methodologies.
Create and maintain clear technical documentation.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with business analysts, architects, developers, and QA teams.
Communicate clearly and professionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Maintain transparency, follow development standards, and contribute to knowledge sharing.
