    General Summary:


    Responsible for creating and implementing engaging and educational activities for school-age children during before/afterschool hours. This role involves developing age-appropriate lesson plans, fostering a positive and safe environment, and promoting the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of each child.


    Duties & Responsibilities:


    • Oversee classroom management practices and provide coaching to school-age worker.

    • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that align with educational standards and program goals.

    • Use a variety of instructional strategies and materials to engage students and foster a love of learning.

    • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of individual students.

    • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and respect.

    • Monitor and ensure information is entered into program data management system in a timely manner.

    • Participate in meetings at the organization and/or team level, supervision, coaching, training, and professional development activities.


    Education and Experiences:

    • Associate degree in Education, Youth Development, Recreation Management, or related field from an accredited college or university with experience working in family services in a nonprofit social-services setting required. Bachelor’s preferred.

    • Minimum of one year of experience working with school-age children in an educational or afterschool setting preferred.

    General Summary

    The Teacher works cooperatively with the Lead Teacher to plan and implement the daily education program for the children. With the support and guidance of Lead Teacher, the Teacher will ensure that the classroom activities and environment are developmentally appropriate and reflect the agency’s philosophy and curriculum. The Teacher plans and implements a program designed for the emotional, social, educational and physical development of assigned children, under the direction of the Assistant Director and Program Site Director.     Duties & Responsibilities

    Administration

    In conjunction with Lead Teacher, develop and maintain confidential education information for children.In the absences of Lead Teacher, facilitate and document weekly team meetingsIn conjunction with Lead Teacher, monitor and ensure that daily attendance and meal participation reports are completed.Accurately complete all required program documentation and submit in a timely manner to the Lead Teacher.Ensure all confidential information is protected.Work collaboratively with Supervisor and Director to assess strengths, challenges and develop goals annually.     Child Development

    Observe, assess, and document each child’s health, skills, behavior, growth, and development.Provide opportunities for the children to develop positive self-images and experience success.Ensure the development of individualized education for each child is documented.Ensure the development and implementation of individualized educational activities is incorporated into lessons plan for each child.Identify any developmental concerns regarding the children and follow agency protocol.

    Curriculum

    Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities which will promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of each child.In conjunction with Lead Teacher, develop lesson plans with goals, objectives activities, and outcomes for children that integrate health, nutrition, mental health, disabilities and parent involvement into the plans.Work with support staff to integrate assessment results into curriculum and lesson planning.Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Early Childhood Education.In collaboration with the Pre-K Supervisor and Lead Teacher implement and help assess the program’s educational plan.Work collaboratively with teaching team and support staff to integrate assessment results into curriculum and lesson planning.

    Classroom Environment

    Assume responsibility for the management of the classroom during the Lead Teacher’s absence.In conjunction with Lead Teacher, maintain a classroom environment which includes positive guidance techniques that meets state and local licensing regulations, NAEYC performance standards and St. Vincent’s philosophy and curriculum.Ensure that all children are always under appropriate supervision.In conjunction with Lead Teacher, maintain an attractive, clean, safe, and engaging environment that encourages children’s independence and self-selection of activities. Establish and create a secure environment that invites learning through exploration and discovery. Ensure that all children are always under appropriate supervision.Maintain and care for equipment and materials. Notify supervisor and appropriate parties of any needed repairs or maintenance in classroom, playground, gym, and large motor room.

    Parent Involvement

    In coordination with Assistant Director, Lead Teacher, and Family Support: Schedule and ensure completion of at least two Parent Teacher conferences for each child.In conjunction with Assistant Director and Lead Teacher, encourage parent participation in the program.Develop effective partnerships with families.Provide examples and ideas for educational activities for parent/child participation at home.In conjunction with Lead Teacher, encourage family engagement, including participation in quarterly Family Engagement Events.Develop effective partnerships with families.

    Other

    Attend all required meetings and trainings, including mentoring and coaching trainings.Regularly participate and make contributions at Teacher meetings, trainings, supervision, weekly team meetings; etc.Complete a minimal of (20) CEU’s annually to meet DCFS and Accreditation continuing education requirements.     Job Requirements

    Experience/Education

    Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development (CD).

    Gateway Membership ECE-Level 5

    Qualifications

    Strong communication skills; able to establish a patient respectful, trustworthy relationship with children. Knowledge of Teaching Strategies Gold, Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold online. Knowledge of NAEYC standards and developmentally appropriate practices. Good computer skills.     Language

    The On-Call Substitute Teacher supports classroom operations in School-Age settings serving children ages 5-12.     General Summary

    Under direction of the Director of Project Hope and in accordance with the Daughters of Charity Ministries of Chicago Mission Statement &Core Values, provides prenatal, birth and postnatal services to pregnant and parenting mothers.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Manage ongoing caseload of up to 10 mothers at a time and serve up to 24 mothers in a year.

    Use strength-based approach to schedule and provide home visits to pregnant mothers as identified by Cook County Jail System.Support partner agency with doula services as needed.Plan and complete prenatal and postnatal home visits with home visiting staff of Marillac St. Vincent and partner agency Develop strong knowledge base of working with families who have experienced incarceration, trauma, domestic violence, poverty, mental illness, and other adverse experiences and apply it to the work.Utilize the Community Based FANA, Parents as Teachers and other research-based and evidence -based curriculum in home visiting and prenatal group services.Make referrals for prenatal and postnatal medical care and attend medical appointments with mothers.     Programming designed to strengthen local youth opportunity ecosystems by ensuring that young people have engaging, safe, and youth-driven out-of-school time opportunities.

    Through a partnership with the Department of Family Support Services (DFSS), this initiative “My CHI. My Future: Safe Spaces For Youth” is a paid employment program for youth ages 16-24 that supports work readiness and social development through positive mentorship and leadership training.

    The Marillac St. Vincent Youth Community Ambassador will help with outreach at schools and community events, support workshops and youth programming, connect with partner organizations, and help create welcoming, affirming spaces for teens across the West side of Chicago, particularly the East Garfield Park Community.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    1 .Maintain the Child Development Program waitlist. Provide customer service to public inquiries about enrollment in the Child Development Program. Input data to maintain an accurate and up-to-date waitlist. Run reports from the waitlist to determine who is first on the list and who is eligible for the program. Maintain data fields to ensure necessary information is collected and case note any calls or conversations with families in order to keep records up to date.

    2 When notified of a classroom opening, evaluate waitlist families to determine eligibility for enrollment based on priority criteria. Conduct initial interview of families to ascertain interest and eligibility. Work to maintain classrooms at maximum capacity.

    3 Create and maintain all logistical reports and planning needed to meet and exceed annual goals for recruitment. Interact with Child Development Supervisors and coordinated Intake and Admissions Administrator to determine strategic plan for high and low enrollment seasons.

    4. Add and maintain child and client profile in COPA, ProCare and Child +

    5 Prepare intake information packets and ensure families are notified of the information requests. Coordinate with families to obtain all necessary information. Handle all administrative tasks related to intake, including:

    o Checking all intake forms for proper completion

    o Distributing forms/copies to appropriate departments

    o Assessing client eligibility for food program and IDHS subsidy

    o Updating computer database and manual files with vital information

    o Creating files for new children/families

    o Interfacing with Child Development Supervisors and Family Support team for classroom placement

    o Interfacing with Dietary department and Nurse to accommodate food restrictions

    6 Run reports on monthly classroom lists, including child classroom changes, and distribute to appropriate departments. Track openings in each room and begin intake process for open slots.

    7 On a timely basis, notifies appropriate departments of family/child’s discontinuance.

    o Secure and file all necessary forms to terminate and close files o If necessary, purge closed files

    8. Coordinate and facilitate new family/child orientations. Schedule orientations with incoming families, coordinating with appropriate departments, including Family Support Services, Child Development Supervisors and Teachers. Ensure new families/children are properly oriented to them section and are introduced to the classroom, teachers, and supervisors.

    9. Conduct Center tours for prospective clients and visitors.

    10 .Provide support/coverage on tasks normally conducted by other team members when needed. Cross-training in all Department’s functions is required.

    11. Assist in training new members of Child Development Admissions & Client Services team, as needed.

    12. Perform other duties as assigned by Coordinated Intake and Admissions Administrator, including marketing and outreach campaigns, such as brochures and flyer distribution.

    13 Maintain a high level of confidentiality of all information exchanged about clients during enrollment and while clients are enrolled.

    15. Keep files of children and sponsors documents.

    17. Send emails on children when they start the program and when they discontinue the program.

    Job Requirements

    Experience/Education

    Minimum Associates degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred. One year of Administrative and/or customer service experience is a plus.

    Qualifications

    Excellent organizational skills required in order to manage documentation and record-keeping requirements. Ability to coordinate details, organize procedures, and prioritize assignments. Communication and interpersonal skills to conduct intake interviews, interact professionally with a diverse client population and respect confidentiality requirements. Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Excel required.

    Language

    Ability to read and speak English proficiently. Bilingual is a plus.

At times, may require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position. Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding).
