    Job DescriptionJob Description

    MGX Shop Crane Technicians are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks. This position reports to the Service Manager.

    Candidates hired for this role will receive a $4,500 sign-on bonus, payable after 90 days continuous service; and be eligible for our Tool Reimbursement Program of up to $1,500 per calendar year. Relocation assistance may also be available to those who qualify.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Operate and perform thorough inspection of cranes in order to diagnose defects.Diagnose, repair and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes; repair hydraulic and electrical components.Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges. Reads, understands and interprets operating and parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications.Prepares for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.Properly fills out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews and expense reports.Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.Provides excellent customer service.Other duties as assigned.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Crane Mechanic/Technician preferred.

    Experience working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT & TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes; National Boom Trucks preferred.

    Must be able to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics.

    Must have excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.

    Possession of a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.

    Basic computer skills preferred.

    Required to purchase full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.

    HEALTH & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

    Perform job functions in a safe manner.

    Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) required by Company policy for the job being performed.

    Know and follow established job specific and facility wide safety and health procedures and rules.

    Actively participate in safety and health training and demonstrate competency based on training received.

    Bring safety and health issues, unsafe acts, and safety suggestions to management’s attention or correct those you can.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    This is a full-time position with typical working hours between 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions.

    Perform essential electrical installations, equipment maintenance throughout the Shady Grove facilities and any other location specified by the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisors, the Electrical Engineer or the designated representatives. Incumbent expected to support all company programs such as Lean, 5S, TPR, etc.

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    · Incumbent must thoroughly understand all safety regulations for OSHA and NFPA70E as they regulate to working electrical circuits and daily functioning in a heavy manufacturing environment

    · Must have a valid driver’s license.

    Essential Job Functions:

    · Must be a skilled electrical tradesman knowledgeable of a wide range of electrical supply systems from three phase 480/12500 volt distribution circuits and single phase feeder branch circuits through low voltage DC control circuits.

    · Must be familiar with various pieces of electrical equipment to include: electrical motors, generators, transfer switches, transformers, switchgear, buss ducts and disconnects.

    · Utilizes electrical troubleshooting skills to identify electrical problems and provide resolution to those problems quickly.

    · Must be familiar with Electrical codes and standards NEC, IEEE and NEMA.

    · Perform electrical load calculations for the purpose of sizing current carrying conductors, conduit, fuses and circuit breakers in accordance with the National Electric Code.

    · Other duties as determined by supervision.

Incumbent must be willing to work at various heights.

    Education & Experience Requirements:

    · Minimum 2 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, commercial or industrial apprenticeship, or comparable military experience preferred.
