We are seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our operations team.
Position Summary
The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and servicing heavy equipment used in daily waste management operations. This role goes beyond machine operation—our ideal candidate will take ownership of their equipment and work area by ensuring proper upkeep, performing minor servicing, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate heavy equipment (e.g., loaders, compactors, bulldozers, or excavators) in waste management operations
Grease, service, and perform basic maintenance on assigned equipment
Inspect equipment daily and report any mechanical issues to supervisors
Maintain a clean and safe work area, including picking up litter and debris
Assist with material handling, sorting, and processing as required
Follow company and regulatory safety standards at all times
Support team operations and complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
2+ years of experience as a heavy equipment operator (waste management or construction preferred)
Knowledge of equipment servicing and upkeep, including lubrication and minor repairs
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and reliability
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform labor as needed
Valid Massachusetts Hoisting license required; CDL a plus

Key Responsibilities
Assist with sorting, processing, and handling waste, recycling, and compost materials
Load and unload trucks, containers, and equipment as required
Maintain cleanliness of the work site, including picking up litter and debris
Perform general labor tasks such as sweeping, shoveling, and hosing down areas
Support equipment operators with safe and efficient waste handling
Follow all company and regulatory safety procedures
Perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous labor or waste management experience a plus (but not required; training provided)
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and performing repetitive tasks
Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
