About the Role
Made Cascade is hiring a Sheet Metal Technician to run CNC press brakes and laser cutting equipment in both prototype/R&D and production settings. You’ll handle true job-shop sheet metal work—from programming and forming to finishing and packaging—while juggling a dynamic mix of one-off prototypes and recurring production orders. The ideal candidate brings a maker’s mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to keep a tight schedule moving.
Materials include mild steel, stainless, and aluminum, with occasional deliveries to local clients in the greater Seattle area.
What You’ll Do
Operate CNC laser and CNC press brake (plus manual equipment as needed) for prototyping and production
Program parts at the console; set up tooling, verify first articles, and run short/medium batches
Bounce between machines and run multiple jobs while maintaining quality and throughput
Read/interpret manufacturing drawings; create and revise shop documentation as needed
Perform deburring, polishing, cleaning, and prep for finishing/packaging
Install hardware/fasteners (e.g., PEM/standoffs) and verify specs
Perform QC/dimensional inspections and keep tight tolerances
Own daily maintenance (fluids, chip/slag clearing) and keep a clean, safe work area
Collaborate with engineering on R&D prototypes; offer DFM/DFB feedback to improve designs
Help teammates on shop projects during downtime
Qualifications
Trade school training in sheet metal fabrication or equivalent hands-on experience
Solid math and print-reading skills; comfortable programming at the machine
Experience in sheet metal fabrication, fastener installation, and general shop practices
Nice-to-have: Amada control experience, Laguna laser familiarity, MIG/TIG welding, advanced fabrication
Physical Requirements
Stand/sit for extended periods in a busy shop; use required PPE
Lift/move 10–50 lbs regularly; operate a pallet jack/forklift (training available)
Comfortable with hand/power tools and occasional facility moves/assists
