    I. Position Summary

    Patient transporters, also known as hospital transporters, are responsible for moving patients to various locations throughout the hospital. Assist patients or lifting patients into a wheelchair or stretcher. Transport to a different location in the hospital for a medical procedure. Offer support and encouragement to patients, ensuring patients are safe and comfortable during transit. Monitoring exams that are ordered to know when transportation is needed. Complying with health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Providing information and directions to patients and visitors. Ensuring the completion of examinations in a timely manner for dictation by radiologist. Correcting any errors with order, or patient information as needed.

    II. Position Requirements:

    A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: CPR certification

    B. Education: High School diploma preferred

    C. Experience: 6 months or greater preferred with previous experience in a hospital setting.

    D. Special qualifications: Excellent communication skills, computer skills helpful. Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care. Reliable time management and punctuality.

    III. Degree of Supervision Required: Involves general guidance and direction by supervisors and/or Department Manager. The Imaging assistant transporter is expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
