Little Voyageurs' Montessori School (LVMS) is seeking a full-time Childrens House Montessori Guide to start preferably at the beginning of summer session (June 2026); a start date for the fall program may be considered. LVMS is an environment that is respectful and joyful for children and adults, and we are seeking applicants who are dedicated to the development of young children.
Position Description and Responsibilities
Applicants should have a love for children, be creative, take initiative, have patience, and work well in a team that creates a unique Montessori environment and follows the Montessori theory.
Responsibilities include:
Planning and implementing Montessori activities in the areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, Culture/Geography, Science, Music, and ArtPresenting developmentally appropriate material/activities to individuals and groups of childrenCreating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, self-directed environment for studentsDesigning creative and engaging activities to spark childrens individual interestsFacilitating a harmonious work environment with co-workers and childrenEngaging in proactive communication with colleagues, parents, and Board MembersWriting and delivering conferences and information for parentsDisplaying leadership, flexibility, and patience----
Qualifications
Minimum:
-Montessori Diploma (completed or in progress)
-Experience working in an early childhood program
Preferred:
-Experience working in a Montessori environment

Organization
Little Voyageurs Montessori School (LVMS) was established in 1968 and is a non-profit, parent-operated Montessori school located in Columbia Heights. We serve children from diverse backgrounds, approximately age 3 through kindergarten, in a multi-age classroom. LVMS is open year-round, and the educational program is complemented by an extended day program. Both provide a nurturing, high-quality, structured learning environment for the total child. The Montessori program operates within a typical school year and a 7-week Montessori summer program.
