    Position Title: Preschool Teacher
    Organization: Little Scholars Academy
    Location: Little Scholars Academy
    Schedule: Full Time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

    Position Summary

    Little Scholars Academy is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and professional Preschool Teacher who is passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. The ideal candidate values teamwork, positive classroom interactions, family engagement, and maintaining compliance with California Title 5 and Title 22 regulations.

    Little Scholars Academy is a NAEYC accredited early childhood education program committed to high quality care, education, and continuous quality improvement. Our classrooms utilize the CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System) framework to support strong teacher-child interactions, emotional support, classroom organization, and instructional learning practices.

    Responsibilities

    Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all timesPlan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and classroom activitiesSupport children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive developmentMaintain daily classroom schedules and routinesComplete DRDP observations, assessments, and documentationMaintain accurate attendance and classroom recordsUpload daily classroom photos and updates through Learning GenieMaintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environmentFollow active supervision, health, and safety procedures at all timesMaintain positive and professional communication with families and administrationParticipate in meetings, professional development trainings, and school eventsSupport NAEYC accreditation standards and classroom quality expectationsUtilize positive classroom management strategies and developmentally appropriate practicesAssist with transitions, meals, outdoor activities, and rest periods

    Qualifications

    About the Position

    The Infant Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality care and education for children ages 12 months to 24 months. This position focuses on supporting children's physical, cognitive, language, and social-emotional development through responsive caregiving, intentional teaching, and developmentally appropriate practices.

    Our Infant Teachers create warm, nurturing environments where children feel safe to explore, discover, and build confidence as they learn about the world around them.

    Essential Responsibilities

    Child Development and Care

    Provide loving, responsive, and individualized care for infants and toddlers.

    Support developmental milestones through play-based learning experiences.

    Foster positive relationships that help children develop trust, confidence, and independence.

    Maintain consistent routines for feeding, diapering, sleeping, and daily care.

    Use positive guidance techniques to support social-emotional development.

    Ensure active supervision of children at all times.

    Curriculum and Learning

    Implement developmentally appropriate experiences aligned with The Creative Curriculum.

    Create engaging learning environments that encourage curiosity, exploration, and discovery.

    Plan activities that support all areas of development.

    Observe, document, and assess children's progress using the DRDP.

    Individualize learning experiences based on children's interests, strengths, and developmental needs.

    Maintain accurate and timely child assessments and documentation.

    Health, Safety, and Compliance

    Follow all Community Care Licensing, Title 22, and Title 5 regulations and requirements.

    Conduct daily health screenings and monitor children's well-being.

    Follow proper sanitation, diapering, handwashing, feeding, and health procedures.

    Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.

    Participate in emergency preparedness drills and safety procedures.

    Ensure compliance with all program policies and procedures.

    Family Partnerships

    Build positive and respectful relationships with families.

    Communicate daily regarding children's routines, development, and accomplishments.

    Utilize Learning Genie to document observations and communicate with families.

    Participate in parent conferences, family engagement activities, and school events.

    Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

    Professional Responsibilities

    Collaborate with fellow teachers and administration to support program goals.

    Attend staff meetings, professional development trainings, and required workshops.

    Participate in NAEYC accreditation efforts, quality improvement activities, and classroom evaluations.

    Support program initiatives related to DRDP, CLASS, ERS, and continuous quality improvement.

    Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    Minimum of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university.

    Minimum of 3 semester units in Infant/Toddler Care and Development.

    Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher preferred.

    Candidates who meet educational requirements and are willing to obtain a California Child Development Permit are strongly encouraged to apply.

    Minimum one year of experience working with infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare setting preferred.

    Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain prior to employment.

    Current LIC 503 Health Screening with physician clearance.

    Current Mandated Reporter Training Certificate.

    DOJ, FBI, and Child Abuse Index clearance through Live Scan and Community Care Licensing.

    Proof of required immunizations, including MMR and Tdap.

    Ability to meet all Title 22 and Title 5 requirements.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.

    Child Development Teacher Permit or higher.

    Experience in a NAEYC-accredited program.

    Experience with DRDP, CLASS, ERS, ASQ-3, and ASQ-SE.

    Experience in State Preschool, Head Start, or Early Head Start programs.

    Bilingual English and Spanish.

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to lift, carry, and safely transfer children weighing up to 40 pounds.

    Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and stand for extended periods.

    Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.

    Ability to move classroom furniture, equipment, and materials as needed.

    Ability to respond quickly to children's needs and emergencies.
