    Job Description

    This role will be based in Bellevue, WA.

The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

    This role is part of the Development infrastructure (DI) organization where you will get an opportunity to influence, transform, and create the next generation, agent centric, large scale, development infrastructure at LinkedIn. We are a data driven organization and you will lead strategic investments to make step function improvements in the lives of LinkedIn developers. This spans multiple areas including but not limited to: Providing tools and infrastructure that creates delightful development experiences for thousands of developers; Provide the environments where agents write, build, test, and publish code;  Provide actionable insights that leverages data and metrics; and most importantly, deliver reliable and scalable infrastructure. You will have the opportunity to engage the industry-wide developer community and contribute to open-source software as well.

    Responsibilities

    Lead, coach and manage core team of engineers working on building the infrastructure.

    Participate with senior management in developing a long-term technology roadmap for the team and company.

    Have the ability to dive deep into technical discussions to challenge the status quo, and steer the team in the right direction/to push the envelope.

    Communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across engineering and business leadership.

    Help the team realize their potential by setting clear expectations, openly evaluating performance, upholding accountability, and providing challenges to stretch their skills.

    Drive a culture of operational excellence. Lead the team into defining performance goals, metrics and building the infrastructure and tooling necessary to maintain a high quality bar and detect issues in real time.

    Create an inclusive work environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, innovation and learning, while holding a high bar for quality.

    You will provide technical leadership, driving and performing best engineering practices to initiate, plan, and execute critical, large-scale, cross-functional, and company-wide programs.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications

    BS/BA in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent related experience

    5+ years of hands-on technical management experience 

    7+ years industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.

    5+ years experience in large-scale system design and software development

    Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages (like Java/Python/C/C++/Scala/etc.)

    Preferred Qualifications

    MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline

    2+ years of hands-on software engineering/technical management and people management experience

    3+ years experience leading developer productivity and quality automation efforts

    5+ years programming experience in languages such as Java, C++, Python, Go, Rust, C# and/or Functional languages such as Scala or other relevant coding languages.

    Experience in architecting, building, and running large-scale distributed systems

    Experience in the design and development of performant, highly available, scalable web applications

    Successful track record of managing teams of engineers to deliver multiple projects on time and with quality

    Active involvement in the creation and execution of technical strategies and roadmaps

Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.     Experience in standard build tools (e.g. gradle, bazel) and version control systems (e.g. git).

    Experience in working with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g. MySQL, Dynamo, Cassandra, MongoDB)
