Requirements:· Engage in safe operations of Furnace Department practices and uphold housekeeping standards
· Safely operate forklift including safety checks, hazard reports and safety of other employees.
· Must utilize and care for proper PPE as required by the job function performed per instructions and training documents. Immediately report any safety hazards to the lead or shift supervisor. Actively engage in continuous improvement of safety and housekeeping standards. Perform housekeeping duties as required to minimize the hazards of the operation and to maintain a clean work environment.
· Follow safety requirements when pouring, dumping scrap and loading furnaces.
· Maintain proper metal properties and metal levels in melt and holding furnaces.
· Charge main metal furnaces with ingot, molten metal and scrap as necessary to maintain proper metal levels. Perform metal temperature checks to ensure metal temperature is within specific temperature range, record temperature readings and notify supervisor if temperature is out of specific range.
· Perform metal quality checks using spectrometer to ensure proper chemistry make up is maintained in accordance to alloy specifications.
· Deliver quality raw product and ensure removal of scrap in timely manner.
· Operate sit down fork truck to pick up, move and deliver materials as needed to maintain production needs. This includes: scrap hoppers of aluminum, empty containers for production, furnace department components and supplies, molten metal, ingot and sows.
· Safely deliver molten metal to die cast machines as required with minimal interruptions to operations, including maintaining proper metal levels, and avoiding machine downtime due to interruptions in service or breakdowns of equipment related to metal delivery.
· Perform maintenance and repairs of metal equipment as required
· Clean melt and holding furnaces as required using flux and removing dross as necessary. Properly perform preventative and predictive maintenance on dosing furnaces as well as troubleshooting when necessary. Other duties include but are not limited to drying out holding and melting furnaces and replacing furnace doors in a timely manner.
· Major rebuild and repair to launder stacks.
· Perform Metal Quality Testing
· Perform metal testing in accordance with procedure
· Perform Reduced Pressure Testing in accordance with procedure
· Perform K-mold testing in accordance with procedure
· Perform all required paperwork
· Perform all required computer data entry
· Communicate all issues to supervision and support personnel

Requirements:The person in this position will be expected to perform all Maintenance Department responsibilities, as well as, provide leadership to their respective shift of Maintenance personnel. May be asked to represent the Maintenance Department in meetings with suppliers as well as, other various meetings with plant and/or divisional personnel.

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for providing a wide variety of maintenance and electrical repair and service to the building, grounds and equipment.This position is responsible for the maintenance team on their shift.Must support the die cast, machining and other departments in efforts to keep a continuous flow of high-quality castings through the plant and to the customer by accurately providing and reporting the significant aspects of the visual, dimensional, and process information available.Must promote a predictive, not reactive, maintenance philosophy by taking a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and quality.Duties are to include (but not limited to): work assignments as directed by the Maintenance Manager, follow up on repairs and projects to ensure correctness, accuracy and timeliness.Promote plant wide safety and housekeeping, and follow established guidelines for visual management.Provide appropriate safety training instruction for maintenance repair procedures.Provide input on reviews for their respective shift's personnel, assists in interviewing candidates to fill open positions, monitor shift vacation loading and overtime distribution, monitors attendance and any others duties as assigned.Monitor status (on a daily basis) of ongoing work for priority review with a sense of urgency and instructs co-workers in duties and training appropriate to their skill level and ability.Issue and prioritize job assignments to co-workers on a daily basis.Communication is key to this position, whether it is be with supervision, production personnel or shift-to-shift communication within the Maintenance Department.Communication is to be conducted in a constructive and skillful manner.Value of continuous measurable improvement, opportunities for personal growth and development, non-blaming, non-judgmental behavior, treating others with dignity and respect, empowered people, creative thinking, and honest and effective communication, must be applied while performing job responsibilities as well as promoting these values among other employees and departments.Academic Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree - preferredFour (4) – eight (8) years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceRequired Skills & Experience
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Must be able to read complex schematics, manufacturer’s manuals and an understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics; diagnose failures and repair in minimum time; be able to decide on what to repair, what level of repair is appropriate to the situation, weather bench or floor repair is required and what is the proper procedure for repair.CNC experience preferred for machining unit responsibilities.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Must be able to utilize advanced shop math to install, troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and electronic equipment and provide electrical distribution systems.Computer literate.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Ability to train others in routine maintenance procedures.What Linamar Has to Offer
