The Medical Assistant will perform routine clinical and administrative duties in support of the assigned area or office. In addition to the following:

A. Education: High school diploma or GED. B. License/certification: CMA or RMA C. Work experience: Past experience in the medical field is preferred, but working as a medical assistant in a physician's office is not required.D. Knowledge, skills and abilities: Excellent customer service skills are required. Must have the ability to work independently, have strong oral skills, good basic math skills and be computer literate. Join our rehabilitation team of over 50 clinicians (physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology) with the opportunity to work in one of our 3 outpatient locations and/or an acute care hospital with 154 beds. Our featured hospital units include medical surgical, same day surgery, intensive care unit, progressive care unit, behavioral health unit, emergency department and women's services. At Haywood Rehabilitation, we value excellent patient care that ensures optimal outcomes, a collaborative team environment and a culture of respect. We employ a variety of specialty trained clinicians and feature one-on-one patient care. We offer flexibility that may include non-traditional schedules to best meet patient and employee needs.
How you'll contribute
An Acute Care and/or Outpatient Rehab Physical Therapist Assistant who excels in this role:
Supports therapist in assessing the condition of patients, planning treatment programs, preparing treatment schedules and keeping records on the progress of treatment.Assists with therapeutic procedures or administering procedures under a therapist's supervision.Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing.What we're looking for
Must be a graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program and possess an NC Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant. Additional requirements include:
Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.One year of experience preferredASLS certification preferredWhat we offer

Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is a 154-bed acute hospital and includes 11 multi-specialty clinics that have been offering exceptional care to the Haywood County community for over 97 years. Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of pain.Prepares patients for meals; serves and removes food trays and assists with meals or feeds patients if necessary.Answers patient call lights, anticipates patient's needs and makes rounds to assigned patients.Assists patients with the handling of personal property: dentures, glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, prosthetic devices, etc.Transports patients to and from various departments in the hospital.Reports and, when appropriate, records any changes observed in condition or behavior of patients and unusual incidents.Assists in the preparation of admissions, transfers and discharge of patients.Assists licensed nursing staff with treatment procedures.Integrates the plan of care with Rehabilitation Services treatment plan to attain patient's optimal level of functioning.Provides general nursing care: positioning patients, lifting and turning patients, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting patients with the bedpan, commode; assists ambulating patients. Uses correct body mechanics.Obtains and records temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight, intake and output.Makes rounds with oncoming shift to ensure the unit is left in good condition.Communicates appropriately and clearly to nurse, supervisor, co-workers, physicians and the Rehabilitation Services staff.Response to the patient is appropriate in emergency or physically distressful situation.Performs other duties as assigned within the nurse assistant's scope of practice.Other duties as assignedQualifications:
