    Employment Support Specialist

    Location: Amsterdam, NY
    FLSA: Non-Exempt
    Reports To: Coordinator of Employment Services
    Physical Requirements: Walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, twisting, ability to push/pull heavy loads, ability to lift 50lbs.
    Hours of Work: Part Time.
    Pay Range: The pay range is $22.00-$29.77/Hour

    Job Summary:
    This position supports people with disabilities in preparing for the workforce through education, training, and job readiness preparation. The employment specialist will work closely with businesses and community partners to help identify qualified candidates for various positions.

    Job Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent.A minimum of two years of experience in providing services to persons who have disabling conditions (experience in in vocational rehabilitation preferred).Valid driver's license w/ no drug or alcohol related violations, excessive accidents or excessive points.Ability to read, write and speak the English language required, ability to read, write and speak the Spanish language preferred.History working in various competitive employment settings.Knowledge of the local job market.Ability to communicate effectively and present both one on one and in group settings.


    Major Responsibilities:
    The overall duties center around providing person-centered employment planning and support services that provide assistance for an individual to prepare for, obtain, maintain, or advance in competitive employment.

    Participate in community events such as open houses, grand openings and job fairs as requested.Collaborate with local schools, employers, funders and other community partners to develop relationships and navigate work experiences and supports for individuals supported.Participate in ongoing training and staff development activities associated with provisions employment services.Develop job leads and work experience opportunities for individuals supported.Assure that job placement matches the skill set, interest & abilities of individuals.Communicate and coordinate amongst co-workers and team members to identify job placement opportunities for all individuals receiving services.Conduct pre-employment services including but not limited to youth transition, interview preparation, benefits navigation, travel training, development of natural supports and referral for other services.Job coach individuals at the job site at the intensity and frequency that is needed by the consumer.Communicate employer expectations of performance and employee behaviors.Promote on the job training for individuals to learn or develop skills essential to their job.Foster opportunities to educate and engage employers to understand and utilize tax incentives, work try-outs, on the job training and accommodations.Complete all necessary paperwork for pre-employment, placement, intensive & extended services.Meet milestones goals and performance indicators for pre-employment, placement, and retention services.Provide person centered individual support in all areas of supported employment reflective of individual's personal outcomes and goals.Conduct periodic reassessment and alteration of strategies, as appropriate to the person's needs.Advocacy with other service providers, the person's natural supports and employers to promote adjustment and employment retention.Attend ISP meetings/reviews and other review meetings for individuals on caseload.Coordinate services in the community for each individual as need dictates.Maintain up-to-date and accurate case records for each consumer on caseload (progress notes, implementation plans, ISP updates and other as prescribed by policies and procedures.Assure services provided uphold quality, integrity and compliance.Perform other duties and trainings as assigned.

    Carpenter/General Construction Worker

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Reports To: Assistant Director of Facility Management

    Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.; frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in various physical positions; ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, ability to safely operate tools and equipment associated with construction and carpentry.

    Hours of Work: Full time, 37.5 hours per week. Additional hours and on call as required as assigned.

    Job Summary: The Carpenter/General Construction Worker is responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled tasks associated with the construction, repair, and maintenance of agency buildings, structures, and infrastructure. This position requires strong technical expertise, the ability to read and follow construction plans, and a commitment to safe, high-quality workmanship. The role also involves collaboration with a variety of staff and program personnel to support the agency's operational and program needs.

    Pay Range: $30.00- $40.50

    Job Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent required.Minimum of 7 years' experience in carpentry, construction, or a related skilled trade required.Ability to accurately read, understand, and follow blueprints and construction plansProficiency with hand and power tools and general construction equipment required.Valid NYS driver's license that meets agency requirements.Must speak, read and write the English language.Ability to perform accurate measurements and basic job-related mathematical calculations required.Possession of or ability to obtain the OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification within agency-defined timelines.

    Major Responsibilities:

    Perform physical labor to construct, install, repair, and maintain buildings, structures, fixtures, and agency infrastructure.Utilize CMMS to track time and work progress while managing projects to meet budget expectations.Read, understand, and follow blueprints, drawings, specifications, and written or verbal instructions from supervisors and project managers.Ensure all work is completed with precision and meets established quality standards, building codes, and project specifications.Use basic mathematical skills to complete accurate measurements, calculate material needs, and perform job-related calculations.Measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials using proper carpentry and construction techniques.Safely operate a wide variety of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.Assist with routine inspections and identify repair or maintenance needs as they arise.Maintain clean and safe work areas and follow all safety standards, procedures, and regulations.Perform other related duties as assigned.
