Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThis Is Not Your Average Job Posting

Most neurology APP positions are with large health systems. This one is different — and intentionally so.

We are a thriving, independent neurology practice on California's celebrated Central Coast, and we are looking for one exceptional person who wants to build something meaningful, learn at an extraordinary depth, and wake up every morning in one of the most beautiful places in America.

If you are the kind of provider who chose this profession to actually know your patients — not to churn through a template schedule managed by committee — keep reading.

    About the Practice

We are a high-volume, full-spectrum outpatient neurology practice in San Luis Obispo, California, led by a neurologist with more than 30 years of experience and board certifications in Neurology, Sleep Medicine, and Clinical Neurophysiology. We are the only neurology practice in San Luis Obispo proper, serving a community with genuine and growing need — currently booking new patients seven months out.

Our diagnostic capabilities include a fully developed EEG laboratory (routine and ambulatory), nerve conduction studies, electromyography (EMG/NCS), and the full procedural scope of a general neurology practice, including botulinum toxin administration.

We are simultaneously launching Wavepoint Health, a new service line focused on preventive neurology, wellness, and longevity — a cash-pay, membership-based program representing the leading edge of what neurology practice can become. The right candidate will have the opportunity to participate in both.

    What You Will Do

You will work directly alongside the physician in a true mentorship model, seeing established neurology patients, assisting with diagnostic procedures, and managing follow-up care across a broad range of neurological conditions including:

Headache and migraine Epilepsy and seizure disorders Peripheral neuropathy and neuromuscular disease (including EMG/NCS) Dementia and cognitive concerns Parkinson's disease, tremor, and other movement disorders Stroke and cerebrovascular disease Sleep disorders

Over time, and based on interest and aptitude, there is genuine opportunity to take on greater clinical autonomy, participate in the longevity/wellness service line, and grow into a leadership role in the practice's evolution.

What We Are Looking ForRequired: Master's degree or higher (NP) or PA-C certification Active California license (or eligibility to obtain one) DEA registration with full prescriptive authority, or ability to obtain Genuine interest in neurology — prior experience is a plus but not required Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills Comfort working in a small, collaborative, close-knit teamPreferred or Given Special Consideration: Background or interest in sports medicine, exercise physiology, nutrition, or wellness Prior exposure to neurology, sleep medicine, or electrodiagnostics Connection to or strong desire to put down roots in the San Luis Obispo area Interest in the intersection of preventive medicine and brain healthCompensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $110,000 – $155,000/year, commensurate with experience and licensure type.

Part-time arrangements are considered and compensated proportionally.

    Additional benefits include:

Direct, one-on-one mentorship with a triple board-certified neurologist of 30+ years — a genuinely rare educational opportunity in a specialty with minimal formal APP postgraduate training Procedural training in EMG/NCS, ambulatory EEG, and botulinum toxin Exposure to an evolving, entrepreneurial practice model including the Wavepoint Health longevity/wellness service line Monday–Friday, daytime schedule — no hospital call, no nights, no weekends Warm, stable, supportive team environment Professional development supportWhy San Luis Obispo?

You could take a job anywhere. Here is why this one is worth the move.

San Luis Obispo — SLO to those who live here — sits at the center of California's Central Coast, halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, with none of the traffic, congestion, or cost of either. It is a college town (Cal Poly) with a vibrant downtown, a nationally recognized food and wine scene, and access to hiking, surfing, cycling, and open water — all within minutes of the office.

SLO has been called one of the happiest cities in America, and the people who live here tend to stay. The draw is not a salary number. It is mornings without a commute, a Thursday evening farmers' market that closes down Higuera Street, vineyards in every direction, and a community that feels genuinely like a community.

For the right person — someone who has been planning to come back, or has been looking for a reason to go somewhere worth living — this position is that reason.

A Note on What We Value

We are a small team, and we are deliberate about who joins it. We value clinical curiosity, personal integrity, and genuine investment in patient relationships. We are not looking for someone passing through on the way to somewhere else. We are looking for someone who wants to grow with us — and for whom this community becomes home.

If that is you, we would very much like to talk.
