As defined by its Board of Trustees, the mission of the Lane Public Library (LPL) and its staff members is “to provide and promote library resources to meet the educational, recreational, cultural, civic, and informational needs of the library’s service area.”

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Offers consistently excellent customer servicePerforms janitorial, mechanical, and site maintenance functions as assignedPerforms basic electrical, mechanical, and plumbing work as assignedPacks, loads, picks-up, delivers, and distributes library materials, janitorial supplies, office supplies and equipment, postage, mail, inter-agency mail, etc., utilizing a library vehicle, as assignedAssists in the maintenance of security systems, including opening and closing the library, and setting and responding to alarms and emergency situations, as neededAssists in the inspection and maintenance of building and equipment; reports needed repairs to the Fiscal Officer; takes corrective action as directedReports supply and equipment needs to the appropriate personAssists in setting up for meetings and presentationsServes on various teams and committeesKeeps up with e-mail and information posted on the staff site
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Organizes, analyzes, and prioritizes work skillfully and efficientlyPossesses good mechanical skills and aptitudeOperates library computers and business equipmentCommunicates effectivelyMaintains confidentialityWorks independently with appropriate training and supervisionMaintains professionalism and adheres to library policies and staff code
REQUIRED EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or G.E.D.Demonstrated competence and experience in routine vehicle repairs, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and janitorial work
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Works assigned schedule, which includes evenings and weekendsAssists other agencies/departments, as neededValid driver’s licenseAbility to lift 50 lbsMust pass criminal and BMV background checks
SALARY:
Part-time, 20 hours per week. Hourly rate: $12.41 or more depending on experience and background. Excellent benefits including: paid vacation, sick leave and holidays.
