HORTICULTURE SPECIALIST (Brooklyn, NY)
Starting Pay: $21.00 - $26.00/hr.
Schedule: Full-time Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
JOB DUTIES:
• Assess plant condition and diagnose issues related to pests, disease, nutrient deficiencies, and irrigation.
• Recommend fertilization schedules, pruning methods, and seasonal plant care practices.
• Assist with plant selection, spacing, soil amendments, and planting techniques.
• Advise on turf and ornamental plant establishment.
• Monitor irrigation coverage, moisture consistency, and soil conditions.
• Support soil testing and amendment recommendations.
• Provide horticultural guidance to team members and customers.
• Answer questions regarding plant care, seasonal expectations, and long-term maintenance.
• Maintain records on plant performance, recommendations, and seasonal maintenance activities.
• Follow safety guidelines and equipment usage procedures.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum 5 years of horticulture experience.
• Knowledge of ornamental trees, plants, turf, pests, diseases, and horticultural practices.
• Valid driver's license required.
• English language skills required.
• PNLP certification or ISA Arborist certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Degree or certification in horticulture or a related field.
• Experience with landscape maintenance operations.
• Experience with irrigation troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with local plant varieties and regional growing conditions.
• Experience leading or mentoring crew members.
LANDSCAPE LABORER (Brooklyn, NY)
Starting Pay: $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
JOB DUTIES:
• Perform landscaping tasks, including mowing, edging, weeding, and pruning.
• Maintain lawns, flower beds, and other outdoor spaces.
• Operate landscaping equipment, including lawnmowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
• Ensure equipment is in working order and report issues as needed.
• Assist with planting flowers, trees, and shrubs according to landscape designs.
• Monitor and operate irrigation systems.
• Follow safety procedures when using equipment and handling landscaping materials.
• Follow environmental guidelines related to landscaping activities.
• Work with landscaping team members to complete projects.
• Communicate with supervisors and coworkers to coordinate tasks and address challenges.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum 3 years of landscaping or groundskeeping experience preferred.
• Familiarity with landscaping tools and equipment.
