Position Summary:
Environmental remediation contractor seeking a Project Superintendent to specifically support marine construction, dredging and other heavy civil and/or remedial projects with various in-water work components. Magnitude of projects range from $500K to $25M. Extensive travel required.
The Project Superintendent will be responsible for managing daily operations of their assigned project. They will provide on-site leadership to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with the contract plans, specifications and schedules. They will oversee the planning and execution of a variety of complex field operations in dynamic environments. These may include dredging & marine construction, earthwork & heavy civil construction, pile driving, coordination of tugs, barges and other vessels, sediment management & dewatering, trucking & disposal of diverse materials and waste streams.
The Project Superintendent plays a key role in coordinating field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and equipment while maintaining effective communication with project management, clients, oversight engineers, and construction managers. They will also assist and support company growth, diversification & cross-training, maintaining and expanding customer base, and junior staff development.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of on-site experience in dredging, marine construction or heavy civil projects
High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, construction management or maritime studies preferred; Undergraduate degrees in other engineering disciplines, environmental studies, chemistry, geology, business or related fields acceptable.
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, versatile, and strong work ethic.
Strong understanding of dredging and marine construction equipment and other in-water work operations on inland waterways
Capable of operating small vessels and works skiffs
Effective in coordinating personnel and heavy equipment to maintain project schedule and budget.
Ability to understand blueprints and Gantt schedules a must.
Basic computer proficiency required i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word etc.
Experience with survey, construction layout, and/or GPS-based machine guidance systems preferred
OSHA-30 & HAZWOPER-40 training a plus.

Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is completed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule and is staffed appropriately.
Direct and oversee field personnel and operations.
Coordinate with subcontractors.
Document daily activities and work performed.
Assist with the planning of projects including quantity takeoffs, executions approach, labor equipment, and material requirements.
Mentor and grow junior staff.
Positively contribute to the overall growth and improvement of the company's reputation, market share, and operations.
