    Job DescriptionJob Description

    The LCMS Tech is responsible for the application of technical knowledge to toxicology testing, clinical relevance, and complex problem-solving using the Beckman AU and ABSciex LCMS and managing the laboratory. The LCMS Tech is also responsible for assisting with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agency and regulatory requirements.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Perform testing in an accurate and timely manner according to established policies and performance standards with a knowledge level determined for that testing.Perform the duties of a Medical Tech and manage the laboratory.Evaluate and document the competency of department scientists, technicians, and assistants; ensure staff maintains competencies to perform testing procedures and to report test results promptly, accurately, and proficiently in accordance with applicable regulations.Actively participate in problem-solving activities within the chemistry department, using an advanced level of decision-making skills.Demonstrate advanced knowledge and application of all computer systems used in the department.Demonstrate advanced knowledge and application of theory and clinical relevance testing.Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.Ensure that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.Establish and maintain systems for the access, identification, transport, storage, and disposal of specimens adhering to internal and external policies and regulations including custodial responsibilities.Establish protocols for performance of confirmatory and additional procedures as indicated.Design and/or implement a quality assurance program to monitor variables which affect the quality of clinical laboratory services.Prepare and update policy and procedure manuals.Establish and evaluate the preventative maintenance program for instrumentation and equipment.Establish and evaluate safety measures in accordance with internal and external regulations.Participate in workshops, conferences, or training sessions as required; maintain a working knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and regulations.Perform other related duties inherent to this position as assigned.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Must have at least 2-years experience toxicology testing with an ABSciex LCMS and Beckman AU Bachelor’s degree in a science field from an accredited college or university requiredASCP/AMT or equivalent Medical Technologist certification desired but not requiredMinimum of 2 years of clinical laboratory experienceMinimum of 1 year of experience in a laboratory leadership or supervisory roleProficient with Microsoft Word and ExcelTechnological proficiency; ability to learn new hardware and software quickly with minimal oversightAbility to effectively organize and execute tasksAbility to remain calm, positive, and adaptable in stressful, fast-paced, and/or changing environmentsAbility to communicate clearly and frequently with employees, vendors, and patients.Ability to effectively work with and/or manage unique personalitiesAbility to use judgment to solve complex problems


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
