Description Summary
The Crane Operator is responsible for operating a mobile and RT cranes. As a crane operator for Krän, you will be an integral part of every project; working closely with the Crane Supervisor, Site and Company Managers, and Supporting Staff. You must have good communication skills both in and out of the crane as well as integrity in work and safety standards. Responsibilities
- Operates various types of cranes to the manufacturer’s specifications
- Directs activities of site employees, truck drivers and team members to execute the lift to meet the requirements of the customer
- Operate crane according to communications from the ground over the radio or visual hand signals
- Perform routine pre and post trip inspections and basic maintenance as well as daily and weekly maintenance checks on all equipment in and out of use.
- Takes complete charge of all safety pertaining to set up, operation, and knockdown of the crane
- Understands and can properly fill out job tickets (JSA’s) either on paper or mobile device; accepts responsibility for jobsite invoicing and billing
- Understands and can properly fill out maintenance logs, lift plans, and lift logs
- Drives support trucks to worksites and unloads truck
- Provides support to other crane operators and riggers by completing various tasks
- Any other duties assigned
Proficiencies
Required:
- NCCCO Certification
- Knowledgeable in OSHA Regulations, ANSI, and PEC standards in crane operations
- Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, crane competency test, and fit for duty test
- Must be able to work between 50-60 hours weekly on a rotating schedule

Work Environment
The employee is required to wear appropriate FR clothing and PPE equipment for which Krän provides and annual allowance for. The employee could occasionally be exposed to extreme temperatures, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee will often be performing duties near moving mechanical parts, and sometimes high or precarious places. The employee will regularly be exposed to outdoor conditions and weather within the region. The noise level in the workplace is moderate, but at times, could require hearing protection.

Key Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on our diesel-powered crane fleet (mobile cranes, carry deck, rough terrain, etc.), heavy haul trucks, trailers, and support equipmentDiagnose and troubleshoot diesel engine issues, hydraulic systems, electrical problems, transmissions, brakes, steering, and crane-specific componentsRepair engines, fuel systems, cooling systems, exhaust aftertreatment (DEF/SCR), and other heavy-duty systemsConduct preventive maintenance to ensure all equipment meets DOT, OSHA, and company safety standardsUse diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals to efficiently identify and resolve issuesPerform welding/fabrication as needed for repairs and modificationsMaintain accurate service records, parts ordering, and work order documentationAssist with crane setup/teardown inspections and basic operational checks when requiredWork collaboratively with operators and the team to minimize downtime and keep projects movingParticipate in ongoing safety training and maintain a clean, organized work environmentQualifications & Requirements
Required:
3+ years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic working on heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, or similarStrong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills on diesel engines (Cummins, Detroit, Caterpillar, etc.)Experience with hydraulic systems, electrical troubleshooting, and brake systemsValid driver's license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain)Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background checkOwn basic set of mechanic tools (specialty crane/heavy equipment tools provided)Highly Preferred (or Willingness to Learn):
Previous experience working on cranes, aerial lifts, or other heavy lifting equipmentFamiliarity with mobile/rough terrain cranes or hydraulic crane maintenanceASE Heavy Duty Truck certifications (T-series) or equivalentWelding experience (MIG/TIG/stick)Basic understanding of crane rigging/operations (we will provide training)What We Offer:
