    Job Description

    KPFF Spokane's Civil/ Structural Team is composed primarily of structural engineers who design and evaluate infrastructure that connects communities. Our work spans a wide range of bridge and heavy-civil projects, including highway and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, culverts that support fish passage, ferry terminals, piers, wharves, and structural inspections. We take pride in our collaborative approach to consulting, partnering with clients across the industry, from small local agencies, to state transportation departments, to architects and contractors. Our team contributes to projects that range from feasibility studies, to new construction, to rehabilitation, to retrofits, always with a focus on technical excellence, environmental stewardship, and community impact.  

    This position will allow you to lead and participate in the engineering design and management of a wide range of transportation projects in the Inland Northwest and beyond as well as:

    Lead planning, design and construction support on stimulating infrastructure projects.Develop and manage project scope, schedule and budget.Engage with clients to define and achieve a successful outcome.Lead and mentor junior engineers.Perform structural design and analyses.Perform inspection/field work.Grow our practice in the Inland Northwest.Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    BSCE with emphasis in Structural EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) License in Washington State or the ability to obtain via reciprocity7-12 years of experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    MSCE or MSE with emphasis in Structural EngineeringStructural Engineer (SE) LicenseExperience in the design and construction of reinforced concrete and structural steel structuresProficiency with the following, or similar, software: CSI Software Suite (SAP, CSI Bridge), PG SuperExperience monitoring budgets and schedules, interacting with clients, and leading junior engineers.Strong communicator and collaboratorSelf-motivatedEager to develop and grow as a structural engineerAbility to work with, mentor, and lead junior engineersPassionate about providing exceptional client servicesStrong technical and organizational abilities

    Additional Information

    Physical Demands:

    Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.Occasionally visiting project locations and performing field inspections which may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying.

    Compensation:

    The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate is $115,000 - $150,000 annually.

    Additionally, we offer performance-based bonuses to recognize and reward outstanding contributions in each Reporting Center. During the interview process, we'll provide detailed information and address any questions you may have about the overall compensation package and benefits.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    Perform project management tasks, such as monitoring budgets and schedules, interacting with clients, and leading junior engineers.Lead technical and project discussions with the design team.Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reports.Take responsibility for the quality control/assurance of project deliverables.Perform structural design, analysis, and prepare design sketches. Instruct draftspersons on design drawings.Perform inspection/field work.Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    BSCE with emphasis in Structural EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) License7+ years of experience

    Located in downtown Seattle, our Civil/Structural team is seeking an experienced Bridge Engineer with 4+ years of relevant experience. This role involves working on complex bridge projects from design through construction administration. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to project coordination and client interaction.  

    Design single and multi-span bridges using engineering software. Apply advanced seismic design and soil-structure interaction principles. Perform load ratings for simple and complex bridges. Conduct inspections and field work. Supervise Designers and Drafters.Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports. Manage RFIs, submittals, and assist with change orders during construction. Review project scope and identify out-of-scope work. Monitor budgets and schedules. Interact with clients and subconsultants to maintain strong relationships. Provide feedback and mentor junior staff. Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    BSCE with emphasis in Structural EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) License in Washington State or the ability to obtain via reciprocity4-7 years of experience

    Preferred Qualifications
