    Job Description

    The Assistant Principal of Student Support (APSS) is a vital member of the school leadership team, specifically charged with driving academic and cultural outcomes within the KIPP Texas Multilingual Program Models and ensuring multilingual learner supports are embedded within the school's MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports). You will ensure that students achieve high levels of academic success - while fostering a joyful, inclusive environment. Through coaching, supervision of multilingual strategies, and community engagement, you will prepare emergent bilingual students for success in college, career, and beyond.

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Instructional Leadership
    Model Implementation: Drive the rigorous implementation of KIPP Texas' multilingual program models , ensuring fidelity to program structures and language allocation.Strategy Supervision: Coach program teachers on effective implementation of language instructional strategies, providing real-time feedback and regular coaching cycles.Content-Based Language Instruction: Collaborate with other Assistant Principals of Instruction (APIs) to design and deliver professional development on content-based language instruction to support all emergent bilingual students.Curriculum Internalization: Lead the internalization of standards-aligned curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of diverse learners in both languages of instruction.Integrate language development strategies within Tier 1 core instruction and intervention planning through MTSS structures.Provide small group language interventions and support for beginner and newcomer students
    MTSS & Systems Leadership
    Embed language development supports within Tier 1 instruction through alignment of the 80/20 model and content-based language instruction.Design and implement MTSS support for all learners across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3.Partner with interventionists and instructional leaders to align academic interventions with language development needs.Monitor student progress within campus MTSS data cycles and adjust supports accordingly.Ensure all learner needs are addressed within campus instructional planning and problem-solving structures.
    Assessment and Data Management
    TELPAS Oversight:Serve as the campus lead for TELPAS coordination, training, and administration while ensuring TELPAS data informs MTSS supports and instructional planning.Coordinate with the Regional LPAC facilitator to ensure high-quality language testing (preLAS, LasLinks, IOWA, etc.)Language Development Growth: Monitor and analyze student language development progress to identify gaps and implement data-driven interventions.Academic Achievement: Lead the annual goal-setting process for assigned grade levels, focusing on regional benchmarks such as mCLASS and STAAR performance.
    Student Culture and Community Engagement
    Parent and Family Coordination: Organize and lead events specifically for parents, families, and community members to support the success of emergent bilingual students through Title 3.Restorative Culture: Manage school-wide culture systems and resolve disciplinary situations through a restorative lens aligned with the KTX code of conduct.Core Values: Champion KIPP Texas core values, building a "Team and Family" dedicated to academic success and joy.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Work with students in instructional and classroom activities at the direction of the special education and/or general education teacher
    • Assist with direct academic, functional and/or specifically designed instructional or physical activities
    • Tutor individual students and help them prepare assignments or explain material they do not understand
    • Supervise and accompany special education students to the office, bus, classroom, cafeteria, etc.
    • Communicate regularly with classroom teacher and parents regarding student's needs and progress
    • Some positions may require the employee to be able to restrain, hold, lift, apply physical management techniques, and crisis intervention techniques for students demonstrating severely disruptive behavior or aggressive outbursts
    • Provide direct support in developing and maintaining essential daily living, self-care skills, and/or mobility needs, as outlined in their individualized plans (e.g., IEP or care plan)
    • Provide clerical support to teachers which may include, but is not limited to, creating photocopies, preparing materials, etc.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Required Education and Experience:
    • The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), that LEAs continue to ensure that instructional aides performing instructional duties on a Title I, Part A School-wide served campus, or those that have at least part of their salary paid for by Title I, Part A on a Targeted Assistance campus, meet the Instructional Aides Highly Qualified requirements. Highly Qualified Instructional Aide must have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent and meet one of the following requirements:
    • Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as completion of 48 semester hours or equivalent trimester hours) of college coursework or an applicable number of semester hours as defined by the institution of higher education attended, whichever is less.
    • Possess an associate's (or higher) degree; or
    • Meet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic

    The School Operations Team is focused on creating the conditions by which our schools can thrive by successfully driving attendance, enrollment, and school wide systems; leading safety and crisis management; and providing exemplary customer service for students, families and staff members.

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Manages the day-to-day school based operations policies and procedures.
    • Implements daily school wide procedures such as arrival, lunch, and dismissal

    • Oversees daily busing operations for their school by processing changes, addressing challenges, and
    coordinating processes
    • Coordinates with Child Nutrition day to day logistics of service such as meal card replacement and rosters
    • Supports field lesson logistics by booking buses and ordering meals
    • Schedules shared space
    • Ensure that substitutes are booked and given attendance roster materials

    Drives school based strategies to ensure kids are in seats every day and year over year
    • Manages school event coordination and family engagement sessions
    • Curates any school based social media communications and postings
    • Provides tours for prospective families
    • Serve as a key ambassador to the school's larger community. Effectively build relationships with family, staff, and community stakeholders with compassion, direct communication, and reliability
    • Makes daily attendance calls based on guidance from Attendance and PEIMS Specialist
    • Executes interventions to support chronically absent students in improving attendance
    • Supports families in completion of registration documents

    Maintains school inventory system and implements purchasing and accounting best practices.
    • Purchases goods and services
    • Codes invoices, collects fees, and prepares deposits

    Partners with School Support Partners (SSP) and vendors to ensure school is well maintained and runs efficiently
    • Manages copier and teacher workroom supplies, troubleshoots copiers, trained on the copiers
    • Manages student technology audits, distribution, collection, and repair requests

    Manages and develops School Operations Associate towards excellence in their role and with an eye toward their long-term development
    • If school model does not include an SOA, SOM acts as the front office, greeting families, answering phone calls, and providing best in class customer service

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Act as member of School Leadership Team
    • Support the development and implementation of the School Leader's school-wide vision and take an active role in investing and mobilizing teachers to achieve the collective goals of the school
    • Own implementation of select school-wide priorities and initiatives as directed by the school leader in support of school-wide vision and short and long- term academic and culture goals
    • Champion KIPP TX core values and build a community of team and family members dedicated to achievement and collaborative spaces of opportunity.
    • Operationalize school-wide academic and student culture systems, processes, and routines
    • With guidance from the School Leader, lead the annual goal setting process for assigned grade levels and/or departments reflective of set regional and school-wide vision and goals
    • Effectively action plan and monitor progress towards goals utilizing and established campus and regional enabling systems
    • Troubleshoot and respond to concerns escalated from students, staff, and/or families
    • Support the School Leader in identifying and developing teacher leaders (Content Team Leaders and/or Grade Level Chairs) through providing coaching, feedback and opportunities for leadership development

    Lead Teacher Development
    • Manage and coach a team of teachers, including special education teachers, to achieve student academic and culture results.
    • Develop deep mastery of the academic standards in the subjects/grades for which s/he coaches, and its implications for all subjects/grades.
    • Lead the implementation and internalization of rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum that meets the needs of diverse learners, including weekly content team meetings and lesson internalization.
    • Implement regular coaching cycles through observation and real-time feedback.
    • Coach a cohort of up to 9 teachers, including special education teachers, and collaborate with instructional staff to develop knowledge, design, and implement effective instructional strategies that address the needs of all students.
    • Support the coordination and implementation of school-wide assessments and analyze assessments to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for intervention.
    • Monitor student academic progress towards goals with data driven instructional practices and data analysis meetings.
    • Evaluate classroom teacher performance using KIPP TX's teacher evaluation rubrics.
    • Lead teacher instructional development with support of the academics team and school leader.

    College Preparatory School Culture Management
    • Lead school-wide school culture systems that address the evaluated areas of school climate, sense of social awareness, and growth mindset.
    • Develop and support teachers and staff in the implementation of school-wide culture systems (i.e entry, dismissal, transition, incentive systems, community meetings, etc.) aligned with the vision for school culture.

    • Coach their assigned teachers on classroom management, teacher language, and practices to support a college preparatory culture.
    • Ensure consistent implementation of research-based social-emotional learning (SEL) and positive behavior interventions aligned within a multi-tiered intervention framework (MTSS).
    • Co-create and monitor student discipline management systems that results in positive student behavior and supports learning (i.e detention systems, In-School Suspension Systems, Re-Entry Systems, Intervention Systems).
    • Resolve conflict and disciplinary situations through a restorative lens while applying appropriate consequences aligned to the KTX code of conduct.
    • Lead data collection and assessment process to evaluate the effectiveness of school climate initiatives including adult (TNTP, Two Step) and student facing surveys (Student Needs Assessment).
    • Invest and build collaborative partnerships with parents and community, and other stakeholders to support students' success and strengthen community involvement.
    • Manage staff and student celebrations.
    • Cross collaboration with behavior interventionist(s) when available, to coach and provide professional
    development around classroom management and Tier 1 behavior practices.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Required Education and Experience:
    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (required)
    • Texas Teacher Certification (preferred)
    • 2 years of teaching experience (required)
    • 1 year teacher leader experience with a record of results managing and coaching teachers and/or teacher
    leaders to improved academic and culture outcomes for students (e.g. content lead, grade level lead, etc.) (required)
    • Strong record of ensuring students achieve academic success (required)
    • Experience working in education partnering with historically underserved communities and communities of color (preferred)
